El objetivo de este estudio fue describir la diversidad y estructura vertical de comunidades de árboles a lo largo de un gradiente altitudinal en el arroyo Las Tinajas en Guachochi, Chih, México y brindar un antecedente de la conformación de las especies de dicha área evaluada para favorecer a la toma de decisiones de manejo. Se consideraron tres amplitudes de altitud: 1 (1831-2009 m), 2 (2010-2188 m) y 3 (2189-2368 m), en las cuales se usaron parcelas rectangulares de 500 m2 (20*25 m), dentro de estas se midió al arbolado las variables de: diámetro a 1.30 m y altura total, así como en general, la pendiente y altitud. Mediante el índice de Ptretzsch, se hizo la clasificación de tres estratos de altura. Se determinó la composición específica, abundancia, dominancia, frecuencia, diversidad e índice de valor de importancia (IVI) de las especies por estrato de altura por amplitud, así como valores medios, mínimos y máximos de diámetro normal y altura. La estructura vertical, reveló que el Rango 2 fue mayor, con A de 2,79 contra 2,51 del Rango 3 y 2,02 del Rango 1. El estrato bajo de cada amplitud de altitud fue el que concentró mayor número de individuos por hectárea, la altura máxima se observó en el Rango 2 con 32 m, con 27 m el Rango 3 y 17 m en el Rango 1. Los rangos de altitud estudiados están conformados por tres estratos de altura, pero cada uno de ellos difiere entre sí por amplitud de altitud, muestra de que la estructura vertical de cada amplitud de altitud tiene una conformación de alturas, individuos y especies distinta.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Most of the studies related to the structure and composition of tree communities are implemented at the horizontal level, only some consider the vertical. The objective of this study was to describe the diversity and vertical structure of tree communities along an altitudinal gradient in the Las Tinajas stream in Guachochi, Chih, Mexico, and provide an antecedent of the conformation of the species of said determined area to favor management decision making, three altitude amplitudes were considered: 1 (1831-2009 m), 2 (2010-2188 m) and 3 (2189-2368 m) , in which rectangular plots of 500 m2 (20 * 25 m) were used, within these, the variables of: diameter at 1.30 m and total height were measured in trees, as well as in general, the slope and altitude. Using the Ptretzsch index, the three strata of height were classified. The specific composition, abundance, dominance, frequency, diversity and importance value index (IVI) of the species by height stratum by amplitude, as well as mean, minimum and maximum values of normal diameter and height were determined. The vertical structure revealed that Rank 2 was higher, with A 2.79 against 2.51 in Rank 3 and 2.02 in Rank 1. The lower stratum of each altitude range was the one that concentrated the greatest number of individuals per hectare, the maximum height was observed in Range 2 with 32 m, with 27 m in Range 3 and 17 m in Range 1.
