En el presente artículo se examinará el grado de accesibilidad a la carretera pavimentada, uno de los indicadores incluido en el inciso IX del artículo 36 de la Ley General de Desarrollo Social (LGDS) en una reforma del año 2013. La literatura previa señala que la accesibilidad a la red de carretera pavimentada se debe analizar desde dos dimensiones: una geográfica y una social. El argumento del artículo es que los partidos políticos -en especial de los presidentes municipales- también tienen un papel importante a la hora de explicar la distribución de recursos a nivel local, específicamente en la infraestructura carretera, así como la participación y competencia política. Se realiza un análisis cuantitativo y los resultados son consistentes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: How do levels of government coordinate to improve road accessibility? This article will examine the degree of accessibility to the paved road, one of the indicators included in section IX of article 36 of the LGDS in a 2013 reform. Previous literature indicates that the accessibility to the paved road network must be analyzed from two dimensions: one geographical and one social. The argument of the article is that political parties -especially municipal presidents- also play an important role in explaining the distribution of resources at the local level, specifically in road infrastructure, as well as political participation and competition. A quantitative analysis is performed, and the results are consistent.]]></p></abstract>
