El objetivo de esta investigación fue modelar las relaciones alométricas entre los diámetros de tocón, normal y de copa, alturas de fuste limpio y total, y volumen de fuste con corteza, con modelos de efectos mixtos (MEM) para plantaciones forestales (PF) de pino de la Comunidad Indígena de Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacán, México. Con datos de 196 sitios de muestreo (400 m2), ubicados en 34 PF (7 años - 37 años) de Pinus Pseudostrobus, y 14 (7 años - 32 años) de Pinus montezumae, se ajustaron los modelos lineales, Chapman-Richards y alométrico, de acuerdo con cada tendencia entre las variables con MEM. Además, se analizó la influencia de altitud, pendiente, exposición, posición social individual y edad como covariables para los efectos aleatorios. La elección de los mejores modelos se realizó con base en los valores de coeficiente de determinación, raíz del cuadrado medio del error y criterio de información de Akaike. Se concluyó que los MEM son estadísticamente robustos y ofrecen estimaciones más precisas, con valores bajos de error promedio y error promedio relativo; además, mostraron un incremento en R² de hasta 20.6% entre las relaciones alométricas (Afl-dn) con respecto a altitud, topografía, características ambientales y densidad de plantación con las variables de interés forestal y el rendimiento maderable de las PF.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Allometry refers to the changes correlated between the size and shape and organic processes within an organism, to the growth of a part in the organism regarding the whole, or among parts of the same individual. The objective was to model the allometric relationships between the stump, normal and crown diameters, total and clean stem heights, and stem volume with bark, using mixed effect models (MEM) for forest pine plantations (FPs) in the Indigenous Community of Nuevo San Juan Parangaricutiro, Michoacán, Mexico. We used data from 196 sampling plots (400 m2) located in 34 FPs (737 years) of Pinus Pseudostrobus; and 14 (7-32 years) of Pinus montezumae, to fit with MEM linear, Chapman-Richards and allometric models, according to the trend between the variables. In addition, we tested the influence of altitude, slope, aspect, social position of each individual and age as covariates for the random effects. The best models were selected based upon the coefficient of determination, root mean square error, and Akaike's Information Criterion. It is concluded that the MEMs are statistically robust, with low values of average error and relative average error; in addition, they showed an increase in the R², up to 20.6 % between the allometric relationships (Afl-dn) with respect to altitude, topography, environmental characteristics and plantation density with the variables of forest interest and the timber yield of the FPs.]]></p></abstract>
