Este estudio analiza las diversidades alfa, beta y gamma de los ensambles de escarabajos coprófagos en cuatro hábitats adyacentes con actividades de manejo contrastante en un paisaje de bosque mesófilo de montaña en Huatusco, Veracruz, México. En cada hábitat se establecieron tres transectos con cinco unidades muestrales donde se midieron diversas características de estructura biofísica y se instaló una trampa de caída en las temporadas seca y lluviosa de 2021. Se recolectaron un total de 1397 individuos pertenecientes a 11 especies, siete tribus y siete géneros. El bosque primario presentó una mayor riqueza y dominancia y una similitud composicional diferente a los hábitats de restauración activa y pasiva y al potrero de uso ganadero. La complejidad estructural de la vegetación en los hábitats restaurados provee condiciones microclimáticas y disponibilidad de recursos que incrementan la diversidad regional. Por lo tanto, las actividades de manejo son capaces de restituir las características del hábitat adecuadas para los ensambles de escarabajos coprófagos y su implementación es de suma importancia para la biodiversidad en paisajes de boque mesófilo de montaña.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Tropical montane cloud forest is a highly biodiverse and disturbed vegetation type in Mexico, so it is necessary to implement management activities for its conservation and restoration. This study analyzes alpha, beta, and gamma diversity of dung beetle assemblages in four adjacent habitats with contrasting management activities in a montane cloud forest landscape in Huatusco, Veracruz, Mexico. In each habitat, three transects with five sample units were established where several biophysical structure characteristics were measured, and a pitfall trap was installed in the dry and rainy season of 2021. A total of 1397 individuals belonging to 11 species, seven tribes and seven genera were collected. Primary forest habitat showed greater richness and dominance and a different compositional similarity to habitats of active and passive restoration and grassland for livestock use. Structural complexity of vegetation in restored habitats provides microclimatic conditions and resource availability that increase regional diversity. Therefore, management activities may promote suitable habitat characteristics for dung beetle assemblages, and their implementation is highly important for biodiversity in cloud forest landscapes.]]></p></abstract>
