Sin embargo, la contaminación ambiental no permite que los manglares cumplan su función de almacenamiento óptimo. Un bioestimulante llamado polvo de roca (PR) ayuda a remediar el suelo del manglar añadiendo nutrientes. Se analizó el efecto del polvo de roca en el almacenamiento de C a distintos niveles verticales en el horizonte del suelo del manglar del parque lineal Kennedy Norte en Guayaquil, donde se establecieron cuatro áreas de (25 m × 10 m) 250 m2 y se aplicó 1 kg de PR por cada 10 m2. Para analizar el efecto del PR en el almacenamiento de C, se recolectaron muestras de suelo a tres diferentes profundidades (0 a 0,1; 0,2 a 0,3; 0,4 a 0,5) m, durante 180 días con un periodo de muestreo de 30 días. Se realizó un análisis de varianza ANOVA de una vía, del C en comparación con la profundidad, mediante la prueba de Tukey p&lt;0.05. El C, la MO y el N incrementaron sus porcentajes en las profundidades 1 y 2, a los 90 días de aplicación, y luego se mantuvieron estables. No se registró diferencia significativa del porcentaje del C entre las profundidades 1 y 2. Se puede atribuir el incremento de los porcentajes a la época seca y al PR. En cuanto al pH, se mantuvo en un intervalo constante de valores cercanos a neutro. El NH4 tuvo altas tasas de amonificación. Se observó un comportamiento similar en P y S debido a la descarga de efluentes contaminados y por mayor precipitación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract One way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to enhance Carbon (C) storage in mangrove sediment. However, environmental pollution hampers the optimal storage function of mangroves. A bio-stimulant named rock dust (RD) aids in remediating mangrove soil by adding nutrients. The effect of rock dust on C storage was analyzed vertically across the soil horizon in the Kennedy Norte Linear Park mangrove in Guayaquil. Four (25 m × 10 m) 250 m2 areas were established, with 1 kg of RD applied every 10 m2. To analyze the impact of RD on C storage, soil samples were collected at three different depths (0 m to 0.1 m / 0.2 m to 0.3 m / 0.4 m to 0.5 m) over 180 days, with sampling intervals of 30 days. A one-way ANOVA analysis was conducted on C in relation to depth, using the Tukey test at p &lt; 0.05. Carbon (C), organic matter (OM), and nitrogen (N) percentages increased in depths 1 and 2 at 90 days after application and remained stable after that. No significant difference in C percentage between depths 1 and 2 was reported. The percentage increase can be attributed to the dry season and RD application. As for pH, it remained within a constant range of values near neutral. NH4 exhibited high ammonification rates. Similar behavior was observed in P and S due to contaminated effluent discharge and higher precipitation.]]></p></abstract>
