Plants affected with Ca. Liberibacter have multiple swellings located in the necrotic phloem and dispersed throughout the vascular system, massive accumulation of starch, aberrations in cambial activity and excessive formation of phloem. It is suggested that phloem necrosis causes blockage of the nutrient translocation stream, which leads to anatomical changes such as mottling and vein yellowing. Ca. Liberibacter control focuses on reducing inoculum sources, such as the use of healthy plants, removal of symptomatic tres.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen En el presente manuscrito se proporciona una visión general de los aspectos biológicos, ecológicos, epidemiológicos y de manejo de Candidatus Liberibacter, bacteria de reciente introducción en México, la cual está asociada con enfermedades como: Huanglongbing de los cítricos, Zebra chip y variegado de chile. En plantas afectadas con Ca. Liberibacter se presentan múltiples abultamientos localizados en el floema necrótico y dispersos a través del sistema vascular, acumulación masiva de almidón, aberraciones en la actividad cambial y formación excesiva de floema. Se sugiere que la necrosis del floema causa el bloqueo en la corriente y translocación de nutrimentos, que conduce a los cambios anatómicos como el moteado y amarillamiento de venas. El control de Ca. Liberibacter se enfoca en disminuir las fuentes de inóculo, como el uso de plantas sanas, remoción de árboles sintomáticos y el control químico del insecto vector para reducir la transmisión de la bacteria.]]></p></abstract>
