The analysis of these deformation structures, seismites, is a key tool for the characterization of parameters such as the intensity and magnitude of the events, and the measurement of the affected area. Analysis of the shape, distribution, abundance and genesis of these secondary structures in lacustrine basins, also provide guidelines for assessing seismic hazard. The analysis of seismites enabled the identification of three M &#8805; 5 earthquakes, minimum magnitude required for the formation of such structures, these on ESI 2007 scale (Environmental Seismic Intensity Scale) correspond to VII-X intensities. The structures were identified with coseismic stratigraphy analysis in three trenches and three sediment cores from the dam within the locality. The basin infill consists of lacustrine sediments with intercalation of volcanic material. The soft-sediment deformation structures appear in different sectors of the study area and consist of surficial ruptures, vertical displacements, slumps, pseudonodules, clastic dikes, cracks filled with recent material, and diapir-like and load-flame structures.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Estructuras de deformación identificadas en los sedimentos lacustres en el área de San Pedro el Alto, dentro del graben de Acambay, pueden ser atribuidos a eventos sísmicos del Pleistoceno-Holoceno. El análisis de tales estructuras de deformación, sismitas, es una herramienta clave para la caracterización de parámetros como intensidad, magnitud de los eventos, así como el tamaño del área afectada. El análisis de la forma, distribución, abundancia y génesis de estas estructuras secundarias en las cuencas lacustres, también proporciona pautas para evaluar el peligro sísmico. El análisis de sismitas permitió la identificación de tres sismos M &#8805; 5, magnitud mínima requerida para la formación de tales estructuras, que en los parámetros de la escala ESI 2007 (por sus siglas en inglés: Environmental Seismic Intensity Scale) corresponden al rango de intensidades VII-X. Las estructuras fueron identificadas con el análisis de estratigrafía cosísmica en tres trincheras y tres núcleos de sedimentos de la presa de la localidad. El relleno de la cuenca consiste en sedimentos lacustres con intercalación de material volcánico. Las estructuras de deformación aparecen en diferentes sectores del área de estudio y consisten de rupturas superficiales, desplazamientos verticales, deslizamientos (slumps), seudonódulos, diques clásticos, grietas rellenas de material reciente, diapiros y estructuras de carga y &#8220;en flama&#8221;.]]></p></abstract>
