<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1026-87742016000200209&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1026-87742016000200209&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1026-87742016000200209&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El fechamiento arque o magnético está basado en el hecho de que el material de los artefactos arqueológicos de barro horneado a menudo contiene pequeñas cantidades de minerales magnéticos que, bajo ciertas condiciones, pueden registrar la dirección y la intensidad del campo magnético de la Tierra en el pasado. Cuando se dispone de una curva de referencia de variación secular (VS) bien establecida para un área geográfica determinada, el registro arqueomagnético que se obtiene de los artefactos arqueológicos de barro, puede compararse con las curvas VS y proporcionar así un fechamiento preciso del último calentamiento del material estudiado. En este trabajo aplicamos el método de datación antes mencionado a los flujos de lava formados durante los últimos 14,000 años mediante el modelo de predicción de campo geomagnético SHADIF14K empleando el vector completo (declinación, inclinación e intensidad absoluta geomagnética). Los resultados obtenidos se comparan de manera satisfactoria con las dataciones previas por métodos radiométrico s (14&#1057;) para 3 de las 4 lavas analizadas alrededor del Lago de Pátzcuaro, pertenecientes al campo volcánico Michoacán-Guanajuato. Un flujo de lava muestra una polaridad magnética inversa y probablemente fue formada durante el evento geomagnético corto Lashamp entre 40 y 45 ka.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Archaeomagnetic dating is based on the fact that baked clays often contain small amounts of magnetic minerals that under certain conditions, can record the direction and intensity of the Earth magnetic field in the past. When the reference secular variation (SV) curve is well established f or a given geographical area, the archaeomagnetic analyzes provide an accurate dating of the last heating of the studied artifacts. In this paper we apply this dating method to recent lava flows formed during the past 14,000years using the geomagnetic field prediction model SHADIF14K. The full vector (declination, inclination and absolute geomagnetic intensity) values are satisfactorily compared with previous dating using radiometric methods (14C) for 3 out of 4 analyzed lavas around Patzcuaro Lake and belonging to the Michoacán-Guanajuato volcanic field. A single lava flow shows a reverse magnetic polarity and was probably formed during the short geomagnetic event Lashamp between 40 and 45 ka.]]></p></abstract>
