<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1026-87742005000300283&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1026-87742005000300283&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1026-87742005000300283&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La Formación La Aguadita aflora en la zona central del Sistema de Famatina (28º39&#8217; S), antepaís andino de Argentina, y es interpretada como producto de sedimentación sinorogénica en una cuenca de retroarco desarrollada en el margen occidental de Gondwana durante el Ordovícico. Esta unidad, considerada inicialmente por varios autores como parte de un complejo metamórfico de edad pampeana (Cámbrico Temprano), ha sido recientemente reubicada en el Ordovícico Medio a partir de dataciones U-Pb mediante microsonda iónica sobre circones detríticos. La Formación La Aguadita se compone de dos miembros informales; el miembro inferior consiste en metaarcosas gruesas que presentan una textura clástica a blastosamítica, con granos de cuarzo y feldespato milimétricos rodeados por escasa matriz, mientras que el miembro superior está constituido predominantemente por metapelitas con intercalación de metagrauvacas muy delgadas. Los análisis petrológicos, mineralógicos (DRX) y texturales realizados en metapelitas y metaareniscas de la localidad de Loma de las Damas, indican que las rocas fueron afectadas por un episodio metamórfico principal de muy bajo grado de carácter regional, en el que la blástesis mineral es contemporánea con el desarrollo del clivaje S1. El estudio por difracción de rayos X de la fracción tamaño arcilla indica que la illita es el principal mineral formado durante este episodio, acompañada por clorita poco abundante. Por su parte, los estudios petrográficos indican procesos de recristalización de cuarzo y feldespato. La medición del índice de Kübler en las metapelitas (IK=0.25-0.40 &#916;º2&#952;) indica que este episodio tectonometamórfico de muy bajo grado se desarrolló en el campo de la anquizona, con temperaturas estimadas entre 200 y 300 ºC y a profundidades entre 6.5 y 10 km. La blástesis de epidota y clorita en rocas de grano más grueso, así como sus relaciones texturales, permiten definir un episodio de alteración hidrotermal de tipo propilítica que tuvo lugar con posterioridad al evento tectonometamórfico principal. En la fracción tamaño arcilla de las rocas de grano fino, además de la illita y clorita arriba mencionadas, se identificaron esmectita, bertierina, vermiculita e interestratificados illita/esmectita y clorita/vermiculita. Este último conjunto de minerales es incompatible tanto con un metamorfismo de grado anquizona como con las temperaturas estimadas para el desarrollo de la asociación de clorita y epidota en las rocas de grano grueso. Su génesis se atribuye a un episodio de retrodiagénesis que puede vincularse con la etapa póstuma de la alteración hidrotermal o bien constituir un episodio posterior resultante de la interacción de las rocas con aguas meteóricas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The La Aguadita Formation crops out in the core of the Famatina Range (28º39&#8217; S) in the southern Central Andes and is interpreted as a relict of a synorogenic Ordovician clastic wedge developed in the retroarc of a collisional-subduction margin built along western Gondwana. This unit, formerly included within the Pampean (Early Cambrian) metamorphic complex, was recently attributed to the middle Ordovician on the basis of U-Pb SHRIMP dating on detrital zircons. La Aguadita Formation comprises two informal members, the lower one is composed of metarkoses with clastic to blastopsammitic textures, whereas the upper member consists of metapelites with subordinated thin-bedded metagraywackes. Mineralogical (XRD) and petrological analyses carried out for the rocks outcropping in Loma de Las Damas indicate that La Aguadita Formation underwent an incipient regional metamorphic event, in which the mineral blastesis was synchronous with the development of the S1 cleavage. According to the XRD study of the &lt;2 µm fraction, the main mineral formed during this event was illite, with subordinate chlorite. Besides, the petrographic study evidences recrystallization processes in quartz and feldespate. The values obtained for the Kübler index of the metapelites correspond entirely to the anchizone (IK= 0.25-0.40 &#916;º2&#952;), indicating that the main tectono-metamorphic event took place at temperatures around 200-300 ºC and depths of 6.5 to 10 km. The existence of blastic epidote and chlorite in some metarkoses and metagraywackes, together with their textural relationships denote a propilitic hydrothermal alteration episode that postdates the main tectono-thermal episode. The clay fraction of the metapelites contains -in addition to the main phyllosilicates- smectite, berthierine, vermiculite, and I/S and Chl/Vm mixed-layered minerals. This group of phyllosilicates is incompatible not only with the grade established for the main metamorphic event, but also with the temperatures estimated for the epidote + chlorite assemblage developed during the hydrothermal alteration. They are interpreted as the result of a retrograde diagenesis episode promted by low-temperature, late-stage hydrothermal fluids or by the interaction between rocks and groundwater after uplift.]]></p></abstract>
