La denervación por radiofrecuencia, bipolar o monopolar, son tratamientos prometedores.  Objetivo:  realizar una revisión sistemática sobre la efectividad de la denervación bipolar y monopolar en individuos con gonalgia.  Material y métodos:  se realizó una búsqueda en PubMed, Cochrane Library y Google Académico. Fueron incluidos estudios originales que compararan la denervación bipolar, monopolar o ambas con otros tratamientos o entre sí en pacientes con gonalgia. Se siguieron los criterios PRISMA para revisiones sistemáticas.  Resultados:  la denervación monopolar (DMo) fue más común. Dos estudios compararon DMo vs denervación bipolar (DBi), la DBi fue superior en reducción del dolor y mejora de la calidad de vida. La DBi como monoterapia reportó reducciones significativas del dolor. Ocho estudios compararon DMo vs inyecciones intraarticulares, mostrando superioridad la DMo en dolor y funcionalidad. La DMo también mostró ser superior al ejercicio.  Conclusiones:  tanto la DBi como la DMo parecen ser efectivas para el tratamiento de gonalgia, con una ligera ventaja para la DBi. La DMo mostró superioridad frente a varias terapias conservadoras. Se necesitan más estudios comparativos entre DBi y DMo para confirmar estos hallazgos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  globular pain significantly affects the quality of life of patients. Radiofrequency denervation, bipolar or monopolar, are promising treatments.  Objective:  to perform a systematic review on the effectiveness of bipolar and monopolar denervation in individuals with gonalgia.  Material and methods:  a search was performed in PubMed, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar. Original studies comparing bipolar, monopolar or both denervation with other treatments or with each other in patients with gonalgia were included. PRISMA criteria for systematic reviews were followed.  Results:  DMo was more common. Two studies compared DMo vs DBi, DBi was superior in pain reduction and improvement in quality of life. DBi as monotherapy reported significant reductions in pain. Eight studies compared DMo vs intra-articular injections, showing superiority of DMo in pain and function. DMo was also shown to be superior to exercise.  Conclusions:  DBi and DMo appear to be effective for the treatment of knee pain, with a slight advantage for DBi. DMo showed superiority over several conservative therapies. Further comparative studies between DBi and DMo are needed to confirm these findings.]]></p></abstract>
