Se explora la conexión en aspectos tales como dependencia en el sendero, tecnología y política económica. Imperial Germany se asemeja a varias de las principales recomendaciones de políticas de los estructuralistas y teóricos de la dependencia. Empero, el estructuralismo está más cercano a las ideas de los institucionalistas y del mismo Veblen. En conclusión, estructuralistas y la versión de Veblen en Imperial Germany concuerdan en que una política industrial debe ser guiada por el gobierno, aunque Veblen y los institucionalistas claramente presentan el cambio social mediante mejoras tecnológicas, algo que el estructuralismo no describe.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="fr"><p><![CDATA[Résumé Cet article identifie les points communs et les différences entre le structuralisme latino-américain, la théorie de la dépendance et le texte Imperial Germany (1915) de Thorstein Veblen. La connexion des aspects tels que la dépendance sur le chemin, la technologie et la politique économique est explorée. Imperial Germany ressemble plusieurs des principales recommandations politiques des structuralistes et des théoriciens de la dépendance. Cependant, le structuralisme est plus proche des idées des ins-titutionnalistes et de Veblen lui-même. En conclusion, les structuralistes et la version de Veblen dans son texte conviennent qu'une politique industrielle devrait être guidée par le gouvernement, bien que l'auteur allemand et les institutionnalistes présentent clairement le changement social par des améliorations technologiques, quelque chose que le structuralisme ne décrit pas.]]></p></abstract>

A Imperial Germany se assemelha a várias das principais recomendações políticas dos estruturalistas e teóricos da dependência. No entanto, o estruturalismo está mais próximo das idéias dos institucionalistas e do próprio Veblen. Em conclusão, os estruturalistas e a versão de Veblen na Imperial Germany concordam que uma política industrial deveria ser guiada pelo governo, embora Veblen e os institucionalistas claramente apresentem a mudança social através de melhorias tecnológicas, algo que o estruturalismo não descreve.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper identifies the similarities and differences among Latin American structuralism, dependency theory, and Thorstein Veblen&#8217;s Imperial Germany (1915), exploring the connection on such as aspects as path dependency, technology, and economic policy. Imperial Germany is similar to many of the principal policy recommendations espoused by the structuralists and dependency theorists. Nevertheless, structuralism is closer to the ideas of the institutionalists and Veblen himself. In conclusions, the structuralists and Veblen&#8217;s version in Imperial Germany agree that an industrial policy ought to be guided by the government, even though Veblen and the institutionalists clearly see social change through technological improvement, which is missing from structuralism.]]></p></abstract>
