<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The contrast between the experience of private cars and public transport within the Metropolitan area in the Valley of Mexico is analyzed. In order to discourage the use of private cars in cities as large and congested as Mexico City, it is necessary to explain not only the social factors of the use of cars and the number of daily trips, but it is also important to understand their appeal, from experience, compared to public transport, and identify the barriers as well as the incentives to reduce the reliance private cars as a means of transport.]]></p></abstract>
