Uno de los principales problemas de los SDF es el casi inexistente manejo de lixiviados. Una de las causas de esta deficiencia es la falta de información precisa, detallada y actual de la dinámica de los lixiviados. En este estudio se evaluó el relieve del terreno del SDF Tonsil, localizado en el estado de Tlaxcala, México, aplicando técnicas de percepción remota para identificar las zonas de acumulación de lixiviados. Las técnicas utilizadas fueron la fotogrametría y el análisis de índices espectrales: índice de diferencia normalizada del agua (NDWI, por su sigla en inglés) e índice de diferencia normalizada de vegetación (NDVI, por su sigla en inglés). La fotogrametría se realizó a través de un sistema de aeronave pilotada a distancia y los índices se determinaron a partir del procesamiento de imágenes satelitales multiespectrales del sensor satelital Sentinel-2. Los resultados del análisis demuestran que la implementación conjunta de la fotogrametría y los índices espectrales, así como el análisis de sus subproductos, el modelo digital del terreno y la ortofototografía, permiten la identificación y comprobación de zonas de acumulación de lixiviados en vertederos. En el SDF Tonsil se detectaron tres zonas de acumulación, de las cuales dos pueden ser aptas para el emplazamiento de obras de manejo de lixiviados.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The improper management of final disposal sites (FDS) in Mexico has resulted in negative impacts on the environment and human health. One of the main issues with FDS is the almost nonexistent management of leachates. A cause of these deficiencies is the lack of precise, detailed, and current information on the dynamics of leachates. In this study, the terrain relief of FDS Tonsil, located in the state of Tlaxcala, Mexico, was evaluated by applying remote sensing techniques to identify areas of leachate accumulation. The remote sensing techniques used were photogrammetry and the analysis of spectral indices, specifically the normalized difference water index (NDWI) and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Photogrammetry was conducted through a remote pilot aircraft system, and the indices were determined from the processing of multispectral satellite images from the satellite sensor Sentinel-2. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the joint implementation of photogrammetry and spectral indices, as well as the analysis of their by-products, the digital terrain model and orthophotography, allow for the identification and verification of leachate accumulation areas in landfills. In the Tonsil FDS, three accumulation areas were detected, of which two may be suitable for the placement of leachate management works.]]></p></abstract>
