La fertilización biológica representa una práctica inscrita en el criterio de agricultura sostenible, que busca el manejo de los recursos disponibles en forma racional. El objetivo del estudio fue conocer la influencia de la gallinaza y la micorriza arbuscular, combinada con la mitad del fertilizante químico recomendado, en la productividad de calabacita y pepino. Los tratamientos fueron: 1) 100 % fertilización química (FQ) convencional, calabacita 120N-90P-00K y pepino 140N-90P-00K; 2) inoculación de semilla con Rhizophagus intraradices (0.5 kg/ha) + 50 % FQ; 3) gallinaza (3 t/ha) + 50 % FQ, y 4) testigo absoluto. Se estimó el rendimiento del fruto acumulado, además de realizarse un análisis económico de la producción. Los resultados indicaron que la fertilización química convencional se puede sustituir mediante inoculación con R. intraradices o gallinaza y 50% de la fertilización química. Este manejo, además de ser más amigable con el ambiente, igualó la rentabilidad de la producción respecto a la fertilización química en calabacita; en pepino, la mayor rentabilidad se obtuvo con micorriza arbuscular y 50% de la fertilización química.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Chemical fertilization is one of the higher cost practices, thus reducing the profitability of production; besides, it causes soil pollution and degradation. Biological fertilization is a practice that follows the criteria of sustainable agriculture through the rational management of available resources. The aim of this study was to identify the influence of arbuscular mycorrhiza and chicken manure in combination with half of the chemical fertilizer, on zucchini and cucumber productivity. The treatments were: (1) 100 % conventional chemical fertilization (CF), squash 120N-90P-00K and cucumber 140N-90P-00K; (2) seed inoculation with Rhizophagus intraradices (0.5 kg/ha) + 50 % CF; (3) chicken manure (3 t/ha) + 50 % CF, and (4) absolute control. Estimation of the accumulated fruit yield and an economic analysis of production were also performed. The results indicated that conventional chemical fertilization can be replaced by inoculation with R. intraradices or chicken manure and half of the chemical fertilization. Besides being environmentally friendly, this management matched the profitability of production with respect to chemical fertilization in squash; in cucumber, the highest return was obtained with arbuscular mycorrhiza and half of the chemical fertilization.]]></p></abstract>
