<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0188-46112018000100005&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0188-46112018000100005&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0188-46112018000100005&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Se analizan las tendencias interanuales de los Servicios Ecosistémicos Hidrológicos (SEH) para el periodo 1961-2009 en la cuenca del río Zanatenco, ubicada en la Costa de Chiapas. Se evaluaron los SEH de regulación de flujos de agua y de control de erosión hídrica, así como de provisión de agua. Para evaluar la regulación de flujos de agua se analizó la variabilidad interanual del balance hidrológico y del coeficiente de escurrimiento. La evaluación del SEH de regulación para el control de erosión hídrica se efectuó mediante el estudio de la dinámica de uso del suelo y vegetación en la cuenca y su efecto en la erosión hídrica. Para la evaluación del SEH de provisión se estimó la disponibilidad del agua superficial y subterránea. Se estudió también la relación entre la oferta y la demanda de agua superficial y subterránea en la cuenca. La variabilidad interanual del escurrimiento superficial es decreciente a una tasa anual de 2.365 millones de m3. Ante el abatimiento significativo del escurrimiento, el estiaje extremo y su tendencia interanual decreciente, los periodos de sequía son cada vez más frecuentes e intensos. La erosión hídrica potencial extrema se presenta en terrenos escarpados y representan el 72% del área de la cuenca, mientras que la erosión hídrica actual extrema para el periodo de estudio representa en promedio el 30% de área de la cuenca. Las áreas con cobertura vegetal proporcionan un SEH de protección para el control de la erosión hídrica en la cuenca. Actualmente se presenta un desequilibrio hídrico en la cuenca.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This study analyzes interannual trends in Hydrological Ecosystem Services (HES) in the Zanatenco river basin, located in the Hydrological Region 023 Coast of Chiapas, for the period 1961-2013. We have evaluated the regulating HES related to water flows, control of hydric erosion, as well as the provisioning HES related to water. We analyzed the interannual variability in hydrological balance (precipitation-evaporation) and runoff index (runoff/precipitation). For the evaluation of regulating HES related to erosion control, land-use and vegetation dynamics in the basin were analyzed for the years 1985, 1993, 2002, 2007, and 2011, as well as their effect on erosion. Finally, the provisioning HES were assessed through the relationship between water supply and demand, considering both surface water and groundwater, for the various water uses in the basin. Decreasing trends were observed in the interannual variability of precipitation, runoff and the runoff index. These trends reveal a higher deficit of moisture in soil, which defines the marked seasonal regime of the Zanatenco river. Extreme Potential Hydric Erosion (PHE) occurs in rough terrain, which covers 72% of the basin; on the other hand, extreme Actual Hydric Erosion (AHE) over the five years of study represents on average 30% of the area of the basin. The areas with vegetation cover, particularly within La Sepultura Biosphere Reserve, provide a protective HES for the control of hydric erosion in the basin. The interannual variability of surface runoff is decreasing at an annual rate of 2,365 million m3. In this way, the significant decrease in runoff, the extreme dry season, and its decreasing interannual trend, altogether result in drought periods that are becoming more frequent and intense in the basin. This hydric imbalance is evident in the water supply deficit currently affecting the inhabitants of the city of Tonalá, Chiapas.]]></p></abstract>
