El análisis de las líneas de flujo revela que durante el día hay un transporte de aire cuesta arriba del valle del río Tijuana (la brisa y los vientos de valle), mientras que por la noche y en la mañana se invierte el flujo al prevalecer el terral. Los vientos de valle reforzados por la brisa del oeste favorecen la importación de contaminantes atmosféricos originados más allá de la línea fronteriza, los cuales se suman a las emisiones de fuentes locales. Los principales contaminantes en la cuenca aérea de Tijuana son los oxidantes y el polvo en suspensión. La nueva zona industrial en el noreste de la ciudad se encuentra favorablemente ubicada respecto a los vientos dominantes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[The marine layer of cool air characteristic of Southern California prevails over die Tijuana basin during must of the year and is topped by an upper temperature inversion. This condition restricts dilution of air contaminants in the vertical especially during the summer when the average mixing heigth is much less than the inversion top resulting in severe trapping of emissions. Streamline analysis shows that during the day there is a transport of air (and pollutants) upslope the river valley of Tijuana. At night and early morning a reversal of the flow is usually observed. The valley winds reinforced by the sea breeze from the west favour the transport of pollutants originating at the other side of the border in metropolitan San Diego. These contaminants are added to the local emissions in Tijuana which are mainiy suspended particles and ozone.]]></p></abstract>

El an&aacute;lisis de las l&iacute;neas de flujo revela que durante el d&iacute;a hay un transporte de aire cuesta arriba del valle del r&iacute;o Tijuana (la brisa y los vientos de valle), mientras que por la noche y en la ma&ntilde;ana se invierte el flujo al prevalecer el terral.</font></p>  	    <p align="justify"><font face="verdana" size="2">Los vientos de valle reforzados por la brisa del oeste favorecen la importaci&oacute;n de contaminantes atmosf&eacute;ricos originados m&aacute;s all&aacute; de la l&iacute;nea fronteriza, los cuales se suman a las emisiones de fuentes locales.
