El objetivo fue identificar los patrones de teletrabajo de las mujeres estadounidenses mediante la siguiente pregunta de investigación: ¿en qué medida el teletrabajo femenino fue distinto al masculino en EE.UU. durante la pandemia? A partir de los datos mensuales de empleo obtenidos de la Encuesta Corriente de Población (CPS) de la Oficina de Estadísticas Laborales de EE.UU. (BLS) se encontraron diferencias significativas en la proporción de mujeres laborando desde casa durante la pandemia. Los resultados arrojaron que la crisis sanitaria aceleró la adopción del denominado teletrabajo (TT) en EE.UU., especialmente entre las mujeres, como efecto de dos factores: 1) atajar la propagación de la pandemia y 2) facilitar la ejecución del empleo en forma remota. El estudio hizo una contribución original al examinar el efecto de la pandemia en la adopción del teletrabajo bajo la perspectiva de género. La evidencia indica que el TT tuvo una duración breve en EE.UU., aunque las mujeres jóvenes laboraron mayormente en modalidad TT en comparación con las colegas de mayor edad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This paper analyses the evolution of female teleworking (TT) in the United States (US) during the pandemic caused by the Sars-CoV-2 virus. The aim is to identify the teleworking patterns of US women by answering the following research question: To what extent did female telework differ from male telework in the US during the pandemic? Examining monthly employment data obtained from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics&#8217; Current Population Survey (CPS), significant differences in the proportion of women working from home during the pandemic were identified. The results showed that the health crisis accelerated the adoption of TT in the US, especially among women, due to two factors: 1) addressing the spread of the pandemic, and 2) facilitating remote employment. This study makes an original contribution by examining the effect of the pandemic on TT adoption from a gender perspective. Evidence suggests that TT was short-lived in the US, although younger women were more likely to work remotely compared to their older female colleagues.]]></p></abstract>
