Se resaltan ventajas y desventajas de los semiconductores orgánicos frente a los semiconductores inorgánicos. Para comprender la relación estructura-propiedad de este tipo de moléculas se presentan los conceptos básicos de la electrónica orgánica, la importancia de la ingeniería del band gap (Eg); así como el funcionamiento, características fisicoquímicas, propiedades optoelectrónicas y aplicaciones en celdas solares orgánicas (OPVs y DSSC), Diodos Orgánicos Emisores de Luz (OLEDs) y Transistores Orgánicos de Efecto de Campo (OFETs).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In this review the value of organic semiconductors in the manufacture of optoelectronic devices is highlighted, as well as some fundamental concepts of molecular structure, which must be considered in the design of the semiconductor molecule. Some advantages and disadvantages of organic semiconductors over inorganic semiconductors are discussed. To understand the structure-properties relationship of this type of molecules, the basic concepts about organic electronics are presented, the importance of band gap engineering (Eg); as well as the operation, physicochemical characteristics, optoelectronic properties, and applications in organic solar cells (OPVs and DSSC), Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) and Organic Field Effect Transistors (OFETs).]]></p></abstract>
