Actualmente existe un mercado muy amplio de estos productos químicos que incluye una variedad de productos que difieren en su composición y utilidad, siendo la mayoría de ellos polímeros. Los mecanismos mediante los cuales ocurre el fenómeno de adhesión involucran fenómenos tribológicos, reológicos y químicos. Particularmente, los enlaces químicos ejercen un papel preponderante en el desempeño de estos materiales. En este manuscrito se pretende dar a conocer el aspecto químico de los materiales adhesivos mostrando diferentes ejemplos de materiales poliméricos empleados como adhesivos. Se analiza como la formación de enlaces covalentes en la reacción de polimerización y el establecimiento de fuerzas intermoleculares contribuyen a producir el fenómeno de adhesión.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Adhesive materials are present in many aspects of our daily life. Currently there is a very broad market for these chemicals that includes a wide range of products that differ in their composition and usefulness, the most of them are polymers. The mechanisms through which the phenomenon of adhesion occurs involve tribological, rheological and chemical phenomena. Particularly, chemical bonds exert a preponderant role in the performance of these materials. In this work, we show different examples of polymeric materials employed as adhesives, analyzing how the formation of covalent bonds and establishment of intermolecular forces contribute to the adhesion phenomena. In this work the effect of the primary and secondary chemical bonds in different adhesives is summarized and analyzed in order to explain the mechanism that produces adhesion.]]></p></abstract>
