En este estudio se compararon dos métodos fotográficos para estimar la infestación en huizaches (Vachellia schaffneri) del área privada protegida Zibatá y del Parque Nacional el Cimatario (PANEC), ambos en el estado de Querétaro, México. El primer método consistió en fotografías tomadas con una cámara GoPro Hero 3+ Black colocada en un poste de extensión a 4.5 m (método CPE), y el segundo en fotografías tomadas desde vehículos aéreos no tripulados o drones (método VANT). La delimitación manual de los polígonos de la copa y de la fracción cubierta por muérdago se realizó diferenciando la textura y color del follaje del árbol y los muérdagos. La congruencia entre las estimaciones de la infección por muérdago que se hicieron con los dos métodos fotográficos fue medida con el coeficiente de correlación de concordancia (&#961;  c ). La comparación de ambos métodos en Zibatá indicó estimaciones muy similares del porcentaje del área de la copa del hospedero ocupada por muérdago (CPE 38.12 %; VANT 36.56 %) con &#961;  c = 0.96, IC95 % = 0.905-0.980 y C  b = 0.992. Ambos métodos resultaron útiles para la estimación de la infección de muérdagos. El método CPE es simple y más económico, pero el método VANT permite abarcar áreas mucho mayores en un menor tiempo; sin embargo, las restricciones para el uso de los drones deben ser tomadas en cuenta.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Hemiparasitic mistletoes Psittacanthus calyculatus and Phoradendron brachystachyum are a growing plant health problem that infect trees and shrubs in the wild and urban areas, so quick and efficient methods to estimate the infection severity are required. In this study two photographic methods for the estimation of mistletoe infection in huisache (Vachellia schaffneri) of the private protected area Zibatá and the Cimatario National Park (PANEC), both in the state of Queretaro, Mexico. The first method consisted in photographs obtained by a GoPro Hero 3+ Black camera attached to a 4.5 m extension pole (PEP method), and the second in photographs from unmanned aerial vehicles or drones (PUAV method). The polygons of treetops and the mistletoe covered fraction were manually delimited by differentiating the texture and color of the tree foliage from the mistletoe. The congruence between the estimates of mistletoe infection made with the two photographic methods was measured with the concordance correlation coefficient (&#961;  c ). Comparison of both methods in Zibatá indicated very similar estimates of the percentage of host crown area occupied by mistletoe (PEP 38.12 %; PUAV 36.56 %), with &#961;  c = 0.96, IC95% = 0.905-0.980 and C  b = 0.992. Both methods were useful for the estimation of mistletoe infection. The PEP method is simple and cheaper, but the PUAV method allows to cover much larger areas in short time periods; nevertheless, restrictions for the use of drones should be considered.]]></p></abstract>
