Para obtener un buen rendimiento, es importante una fecha adecuada de siembra debido a la variabilidad en temperatura y precipitación que se puede presentar. Con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de la fecha de siembra sobre el rendimiento, calidad fisica y características quimicas del grano en 10 genotipos de cebada maltera y definir la fecha de siembra óptima, se establecieron ocho ensayos en Roque, Guanajuato, México, cuatro en el ciclo 20212022 sembrados el 30 de noviembre, 15 y 30 de diciembre y 15 de enero y cuatro en las mismas fechas del ciclo 2022-2023. Se empleó un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Se realizaron análisis de varianza, prueba de medias, análisis de componentes principales, de interacción genotipo-ambiente y de estabilidad. Se encontraron diferencias significativas en rendimiento entre variedades, fechas de siembra e interacciones. Los genotipos con mayor rendimiento fueron Alina y Esperanza con 7.23 y 6.91 t ha-1, respectivamente; Alina destacó tanto por rendimiento como por estabilidad. Las fechas de siembra que mostraron mayor rendimiento, calidad física, contenido de proteína y almidón en el grano fueron las del 30 de noviembre y 15 de diciembre. Las fechas de siembra tempranas favorecen rendimiento y calidad en cebada en el ciclo de Otoño-Invierno en el Bajío, México.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) ranks fourth in cereal production worldwide after maize, wheat and rice. For good yield, an appropriate planting date is important, due to the variability in temperature and rainfall that may occur. With the aim of evaluating the effect of planting date on yield, physical quality and chemical characteristics of the grain in 10 malting barley genotypes and defining the optimal planting date, eight trials were established in Roque, Guanajuato, Mexico, four in the agricultural season 2021-2022 planted on November 30, December 15 and 30 and January 15, and four at the same dates of the agricultural season 2022-2023. A randomized complete block experimental design with three replications was used. Analysis of variance, means tests, principal component analysis, genotype-environment interaction and stability were performed. Significant differences in yield were found between varieties, planting dates and interactions. The highest yielding genotypes were Alina and Esperanza with 7.23 and 6.91 t ha-1, respectively; Alina stood out for both yield and stability. The planting dates that showed higher yield, physical quality, protein content and starch content in the grain were November 30 and December 15. Early planting dates favor yield and quality of barley in the Summer-Winter season in El Bajío, Mexico.]]></p></abstract>
