Sin embargo, no hay suficiente información para comprender la relación entre las características del grano y el volumen de reventado. Por ello, en amaranto (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L) se determinó la influencia del tamaño de grano sobre el volumen de reventado y su relación con la humedad de grano, el genotipo y el ambiente de producción. Los factores de estudio fueron tres tamaños de grano (1.00, 0.84 y 0.71 mm), dos líneas (LS-29 y LS-30), tres lotes comerciales y dos niveles de humedad del grano (9 y 13 %). La expansión del grano se realizó en julio de 2022 en instalaciones del Campus Puebla del Colegio de Postgraduados. El diseño experimental fue un completamente al azar, tratamientos con arreglo factorial y tres repeticiones. En el análisis estadístico se realizó un análisis de varianza y prueba de medias (Tukey, 0.05 %). Los resultados muestran diferencias significativas (P &#8804; 0.5) en los factores de variación principales y en todas las interacciones dobles. Entre los tamaños de grano de 1.0 y 0.841 mm no hubo diferencias en volumen de reventado (VREV) y ambos superaron al tamaño 0.707 mm. Sin embargo, en la interacción tamaño de grano x genotipo se observó respuesta diferencial entre los genotipos. En LS29 el mejor fue el tamaño 0.84 mm y en el genotipo LS30 el tamaño 1.0 mm, con 193 y 172.7 ml, respectivamente. Se encontró que el VREV es afectado por la interacción del tamaño de grano con el genotipo, el sitio de producción y la humedad de grano.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary In Mexico, amaranth is consumed mainly as expanded or popped grain. However, there is not enough information to understand the relationship between grain characteristics and popping volume. Therefore, in amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L), the influence of grain size on popping volume and its relationship with grain moisture, genotype and production environment was determined. The study factors were three kernel sizes (1.00, 0.84 and 0.71 mm), two lines (LS-29 and LS-30), three commercial lots and two levels of kernel moisture (9 and 13 %). Grain expansion was carried out in July 2022 at the Puebla Campus of the Colegio de Postgraduados. The experimental design was a completely randomized, treatments with factorial arrangement and three replications. In the statistical analysis, an analysis of variance and mean test (Tukey, 0.05 %) were performed. The results show significant differences (P &#8804; 0.5) in the main variation factors and in all double interactions. Between the 1.0 and 0.841 mm grain sizes there was no difference in popping volume (VREV) and both exceeded the 0.707 mm size. However, in the grain size x genotype interaction, differential response was observed between genotypes. In LS29 the best was size 0.84 mm and in genotype LS30 size 1.0 mm, with 193 and 172.7 ml, respectively.
