Una de las estrategias implementada por instituciones gubernamentales para mejorar el rendimiento es la transferencia y adopción de variedades mejoradas de frijol. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue analizar la adopción en el tiempo de la variedad mejorada de frijol Pinto Saltillo y los factores asociados con este proceso de adopción mediante el análisis de supervivencia (AS). Los datos fueron recolectados en 2021 a través de un cuestionario dirigido a 203 productores de frijol en los estados de Zacatecas y Durango, México. Se encontró que la adopción de Pinto Saltillo a 2021 fue de 87 %, mientras que la probabilidad de que un agricultor abandone la tecnología antes de cuatro años fue de 13.5 %. Las variables que contribuyeron a la permanencia de adopción fueron el rendimiento, los ingresos derivados de la agricultura, los ingresos por la producción de frijol Pinto Saltillo y la percepción de la falta de innovaciones tecnológicas. Para mejorar el rendimiento de frijol se necesita que la difusión de innovaciones tecnológicas se haga a través de técnicos especialistas. Lo anterior permite que los agricultores reciban información confiable y exacta acerca de la importancia de la permanencia con la innovación tecnológica. El análisis de supervivencia examina los cambios en los factores explicativos en relación con los agricultores y otros cambios a lo largo del tiempo.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Common bean is an important crop in Mexican peasant nutrition due to its contribution of vegetable protein, which represents food security and sovereignty for rural communities; however, it has low productivity. One of the strategies implemented by government institutions to improve yield is the transfer and adoption of improved bean varieties. The objective of this research was to analyze adoption over time of the improved bean variety Pinto Saltillo and determining factors associated with this adoption process through survival analysis (SA). Data were collected in 2021 through a questionnaire addressed to 203 bean producers in the states of Zacatecas and Durango, Mexico. The adoption of Pinto Saltillo at 2021 was found to be 87 %, while the probability of a farmer abandoning the technology within four years was 13.5 %. The variables that contributed to the permanence of adoption were yield, income from farming, income from Pinto Saltillo bean production and perceived lack of technological innovations. To improve bean yields, it is necessary that the dissemination of technological innovations is done through specialized technicians. This allows farmers to receive reliable and accurate information about the importance of staying with technological innovation. Survival analysis examines changes in explanatory factors about farmers and other changes over time.]]></p></abstract>
