<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-73802023000400389&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-73802023000400389&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-73802023000400389&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen En el sur de Sinaloa se cultivan 26,500 ha de mango con las variedades Ataulfo y Tommy Atkins de maduración temprana, Kent de maduración intermedia y Keitt de maduración tardía; no obstante esta clasificación, la cosecha de dichas variedades se concentra en un tiempo corto durante los meses de junio y julio. Se considera que este fenómeno es provocado por las temperaturas altas durante el crecimiento del fruto. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue ampliar el periodo de cosecha de la variedad Kent, la más cultivada en la región, con 48 % del área plantada. Se establecieron dos experimentos, en los municipios de Escuinapa en 2018 y en El Rosario en 2019, ambos en el estado de Sinaloa, México. Los tratamientos fueron poda manual y poda química con etefón (ácido 2-cloroetilfosfónico) a dosis de 1.0 y 1.2 mL L-1 en panículas de la primera floración durante antesis para provocar una segunda floración en yemas axilares, el testigo consistió en árboles sin poda. La poda manual retrasó la floración entre 40 y 42 d, y con la poda química el retraso de la floración fue de entre 45 y 47 d; el retraso en la cosecha fue de 33 y 31 d, respectivamente. Por cada panícula apical podada se formaron de 2.5 a 4.8 panículas axilares. En 2018 las podas manual y química de panículas apicales tuvieron menos frutos, pero de mayor tamaño que el testigo, lo que resultó en una producción más equilibrada entre tratamientos. En 2019 el testigo sin podar fue más productivo. Los frutos del testigo y de los árboles podados con etefón 1.2 mL L-1 tuvieron el mejor comportamiento en los indicadores de calidad firmeza, sólidos solubles totales (SST) y la relación SST/acidez (RSA). Se concluye que el desfase de la floración mediante poda manual o química con etefón de panículas de la primera floración puede ser una alternativa para el retraso de la cosecha en mango Kent con frutos de calidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary In Southern Sinaloa, 26,500 ha of mango are grown with the early-season Ataulfo and Tommy Atkins, intermediate-season Kent and late-season Keitt varieties. Despite this classification, the harvest of these varieties is concentrated in a short period of time during the months of June and July. It is considered that this phenomenon is caused by high temperatures during fruit growth. The aim of this research was to extend the harvest period of the Kent variety, the most cultivated in the region, with 48 % of the planted area. Two experiments were established in the municipalities of Escuinapa in 2018 and El Rosario in 2019, both in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. Treatments were manual pruning and chemical pruning with ethephon (2-chloroethylphosphonic acid) at doses of 1.0 and 1.2 mL L-1 in panicles of the first flowering during anthesis stage, to induce a second flowering in axillary buds, the control were unpruned trees. Manual pruning delayed bloom between 40 and 42 d, and with chemical pruning the flowering delay was between 45 and 47 d. Harvest delay was 33 and 31 d, respectively. For each apical panicle pruned, 2.5 to 4.8 axillary panicles were formed. In 2018, the manual and chemical pruning of apical panicles produced fewer fruits, but larger than the control, which resulted in a more balanced production between treatments. In 2019 the unpruned control was more productive. Fruits of the control and trees pruned with ethephon 1.2 mL L-1 had the best performance in quality indicators firmness, total soluble solids (TSS) and the TSS/acidity ratio (SAR). It is concluded that flowering delay by manual or chemical etephone-pruning in panicles of the first bloom might be an alternative to delay the harvest in Kent mango with quality fruits.]]></p></abstract>
