La resistencia genética de la planta es una estrategia efectiva para el control de esta enfermedad y es conferida por un número relativamente pequeño de genes. El objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la genética de la resistencia de la línea de avena resistente a la roya del tallo D0RA/OBS//I0RN.S97CV.8A (progenitor 18), a partir de cinco poblaciones biparentales. Los resultados de campo mostraron que la resistencia a la roya del tallo en las cruzas resistentes × susceptibles está determinada por tres genes, un gen dominante y un sistema de dos genes dominantes complementarios, al agrupar las familias resistentes más las segregantes y compararlas con las familias susceptibles se observó una proporción de 57 resistentes y 7 susceptibles. Los resultados indicaron que Ágata.B/Diam no es una línea homocigótica; por lo tanto, una segregación encontrada para dos genes dominantes no es congruente con la segregación de tres genes observada en las cruzas resistentes × susceptibles. No se observó segregación en una cruza resistente × resistente, lo que indica que los genes de resistencia a la roya del tallo son similares en ambos padres; sin embargo, las progenies de la población se originaron a partir de una sola planta F1 que podría atribuirse a una semilla autopolinizada. Para confirmar este hecho, se debe repetir la prueba de alelismo. El sistema complementario encontrado podría atribuirse al complejo Pg-a y a la presencia de otro gen dominante aún no identificado. Los resultados de esta investigación ayudarán en el desarrollo de cultivares de avena resistentes en los programa de mejoramiento de este cereal.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Stem rust is a major disease of cultivated oats (Avena sativa L) caused by the fungus Puccinia graminis f. sp. avenae. Genetic resistance of the plant is an effective strategy for controlling this disease and it is conferred by a relatively small number of genes. The aim of this study was to determine the genetics of the resistance to stem rust in the resistant oat line D0RA/OBS//I0RN. S97CV.8A (parent 18), from five biparental populations. Field results showed that stem rust resistance in susceptible × resistant crosses is determined by three genes, one dominant gene and a system of two complementary dominant genes, by grouping resistant families plus segregating families and comparing them with susceptible families where a ratio of 57 resistant and 7 susceptible was observed. Results indicated that Agata.B/Diam is not a homozygous line; therefore, any segregation found for two dominant genes is not congruent with the segregation of three genes observed in resistant × susceptible crosses. No segregation was observed in a resistant × resistant cross, indicating that stem rust resistance genes are similar in both parents; however, the progenies of the population originated from a single F1 plant that could be attributed to a self-pollinated seed. To confirm this finding, the allelism test should be repeated. The complementary system found could be attributed to the Pg-a complex and the presence of another dominant gene not yet identified. The findings of this research will help in the development of resistant oat cultivars in the breeding programs of this cereal.]]></p></abstract>
