<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-73802022000100023&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-73802022000100023&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-73802022000100023&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Para establecer un programa de mejoramiento genético de tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L.) se requiere tener acceso a germoplasma que contenga genes de interés comercial y valor nutricional; previamente, se deben conocer las características y atributos de cada población, lo cual se logra con la caracterización. Con base en lo anterior, el objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la diversidad morfológica y agronómica de 20 accesiones de tomate nativo del sur de México e identificar aquellas promisorias para conservarlas y usarlas en mejoramiento genético. Las poblaciones se establecieron bajo un diseño experimental completamente al azar con tres repeticiones. Se registraron 18 caracteres de planta, flor, fruto y fenología. La información obtenida se sometió a análisis de varianza, de componentes principales y de conglomerados. El 83% de la variación morfo-agronómica total se explicó con los tres primeros componentes principales. Los caracteres con mayor valor descriptivo de la variabilidad fueron estructuras florales, tamaño y peso de fruto, rendimiento por planta, longitud de nudos, altura de la planta hasta el primer racimo y precocidad. El análisis de conglomerados y de componentes principales permitió la identificación de cinco grupos. Se identificaron seis poblaciones sobresalientes con los mayores promedios en estructura de la flor, largo de fruto, peso de fruto y rendimiento de fruto por planta.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[SUMMARY To establish a breeding program in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) it is necessary to have access to germplasm that contains genes of commercial interest and nutritional value; previously, the characteristics and attributes of each population should be known, which is achieved through characterization. Based on the above-mentioned, the objective of this study was to evaluate the morphological and agronomic diversity of 20 tomato accessions native to Southern Mexico and to identify those that show promise for conservation and use in genetic improvement. The populations were established under a completely randomized experimental design with three replications. Eighteen characters of plant, flower, fruit and phenology were recorded. The information obtained was subjected to analyses of variance, principal component and cluster. A proportion of 82.3% of the total morpho-agronomic variation was explained by the first three principal components. Characters with the highest descriptive value of variability were floral structures, fruit size and weight, yield per plant, node length, plant height to the first cluster and earliness. The cluster and principal component analyses allowed the identification of five groups. Six outstanding populations with the highest averages in flower structure, fruit length, fruit weight and fruit yield per plant were identified.]]></p></abstract>
