Esto se ha documentado principalmente para especies de la familia Rhizophoraceae y Acanthaceae; sin embargo, son limitados los estudios accesibles para la familia Combretaceae, p. ej. Laguncularia racemosa.  Métodos:  Se colectaron durante un año, mensualmente, de tres a cuatro hojas del antepenúltimo y penúltimo entrenudo de las ramas de 10 árboles de Laguncularia racemosa. La colecta de hojas se realizó teniendo en cuenta ocho etapas fenológicas. Los nutrientes analizados en las hojas fueron:    N  t o t a l ,  P O  4  3 - ,     K  + ,    C a  2 + ,   M g  2 + ,    S O  4  2 - ,     N a  + ,    F e  2 + ,    C u  2 + ,  B     H  3   B O  3 ,    M n  2 +  y    Z n  2 +. Adicionalmente, 10 muestras de agua intersticial (para medir iones mayores) y sedimento (para medir el pH y cuantificar el contenido de materia orgánica) se tomaron a una profundidad de entre 0.3 a 0.6 m.  Resultados clave:  Los nutrientes    K  + ,    C a  2 + ,    F e  2 + ,    M g  2 + , y N total presentaron valores máximos a lo largo del desarrollo de la brotación vegetativa hasta el desarrollo de &#8220;frutos&#8221;, lo cual significa que la mayor importancia de estos nutrientes es en la producción de &#8220;frutos&#8221;. El    N a  + mostró su mayor concentración (22.8 g kg-1) en la fase de inicio de floración y la mínima durante la quiescencia (8.7 g kg-1). En contraste, el    S O  4  2 - ,    P O  4  3 - ,    C u  2 + ,  B     H  3   B O  3 ,    Z n  2 + no presentaron diferencias. Finalmente, el    M n  2 + presentó 109 mg kg-1 al final de la brotación vegetativa y 34 mg kg-1 en la madurez y caída de &#8220;frutos&#8221;.  Conclusiones:  En la absorción de nutrientes son importantes las etapas fenológicas y las condiciones climáticas locales.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Background and Aims: The phenological events in mangroves are usually influenced by factors such as water salinity, photoperiod and/or environmental temperature. This has been documented mainly for species of the family Rhizophoraceae and Acanthaceae; however, accessible studies for the family Combretaceae, e.g., Laguncularia racemosa, are limited.  Methods: We collected during one year, monthly, three to four leaves of the penultimate and antepenultimate internode of the branches of 10 trees of Laguncularia racemosa. The collection of leaves was made considering eight phenological stages. The nutrients analyzed in the leaves were:    t o t a l  N ,  P O  4  3 - ,     K  + ,    C a  2 + ,   M g  2 + ,    S O  4  2 - ,     N a  + ,    F e  2 + ,    C u  2 + ,  B     H  3   B O  3 ,    M n  2 +  a n d    Z n  2 +. Additionally, 10 samples of interstitial water (to measure mayor elements) and sediment (to measure pH and quantify the organic matter content) were taken at a depth between 0.3 to 0.6 m.  Key results: The nutrients    K  + ,    C a  2 + ,    F e  2 + ,    M g  2 + , and total N presented maximum values throughout the development of vegetative sprouting until the development of &#8220;fruits&#8221;, which means that the greatest importance of these nutrients is in the production of &#8220;fruits&#8221;. The Na+ showed its highest concentration (22.8 g kg-1) in the beginning phase of flowering and the minimum during the quiescence (8.7 g kg-1). In contrast,    S O  4  2 - ,    P O  4  3 - ,    C u  2 + ,  B     H  3   B O  3 ,    Z n  2 + did not present differences.
