Utilizing data from the Scopus database and the Bibliometrix package in R, the analysis investigates publication trends, international collaboration, and thematic developments from 1980 to 2024. The objectives are to identify key research areas, influential contributors, and emerging patterns within this interdisciplinary field. Results indicate a strong and sustained growth in scholarly output, with an annual increase of 12.48% and an average of 43.28 citations per publication, reflecting the rising global interest and relevance of this topic. Collaboration networks reveal robust partnerships among researchers from the United States, China, and Europe, though regional disparities persist-particularly in Eastern Europe. Thematic clustering and multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) identify three dominant research areas: statistically driven climate studies, investigations of seasonal weather dynamics, and analyses of extreme winter events. The findings highlight the field&#8217;s intellectual structure and underscore the need for expanded international cooperation and increased research efforts in underrepresented regions. This analysis provides valuable insights for future research and policymaking in the field of climate and atmospheric sciences.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Este estudio evalúa sistemáticamente la evolución de la investigación científica sobre los impactos del cambio climático en los fenómenos meteorológicos invernales y la contaminación atmosférica mediante un análisis bibliométrico. Utilizando datos de la base de datos Scopus y el paquete Bibliometrix de R, el análisis investiga las tendencias de publicación, la colaboración internacional y la evolución temática desde 1980 hasta 2024. Los objetivos son identificar áreas de investigación clave, colaboradores influyentes y patrones emergentes dentro de este campo interdisciplinar. Los resultados indican un crecimiento fuerte y sostenido de la producción académica, con un aumento anual del 12.48 % y una media de 43.28 citas por publicación, lo que refleja la creciente relevancia mundial de este tema. Las redes de colaboración revelan sólidas asociaciones entre investigadores de Estados Unidos, China y Europa, aunque persisten las disparidades regionales, sobre todo en Europa del Este. La agrupación temática y el análisis de correspondencias múltiples identifican tres áreas de investigación dominantes: estudios climáticos basados en estadísticas, investigaciones de la dinámica meteorológica estacional y análisis de fenómenos invernales extremos. Los resultados ponen de relieve la estructura intelectual del campo y señalan la necesidad de ampliar la cooperación internacional y aumentar los esfuerzos de investigación en las regiones infrarrepresentadas. Este análisis aporta valiosas ideas para la investigación y la formulación de políticas futuras en el campo de las ciencias climáticas y atmosféricas.]]></p></abstract>
