However, it lacks climatological information to support the studies of the ecosystems that have been carried out in recent years. GIS modeling characterized its climatology, and climate variability scenarios were created for the period 1981-2010. From temperature and precipitation data recorded in situ, vertical gradients of both variables were obtained in relation to the orography of the zone. The records were correlated with data from nearby weather stations so that by using a DEM, it was possible to obtain raster layers with a resolution of 15 meters per pixel (MPP) for temperature in the summer and winter seasons; and for precipitation in the rainy and dry seasons; the annual value was also calculated for both variables. The climatic variability detected in the zone indicates a gradual increase in air temperature over time and a spatial variation in the distribution of precipitation. The spatial resolution of the modeling is precisely adjusted to the relief of the mountain, allowing the flora and fauna elements found within each pixel to be analyzed with a good level of detail. This work represents the most viable and effective alternative to estimate temperature and precipitation values in mountain systems lacking climatological stations, demonstrating that beyond providing climate information, which is increasingly necessary for ecosystems, it is possible to model their Spatio-temporal dynamics to understand the complex climate variability of our days.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN La Reserva Ecológica Sierra de Otontepec es una montaña aislada en la llanura costera del Golfo de México con gran relevancia científica. Sin embargo, carece de información climatológica que sustente los estudios de los ecosistemas que se han realizado en los últimos años. A través de modelamiento SIG se caracterizó su climatología y se crearon escenarios de variabilidad climática para el período 1981-2010. A partir de los datos de temperatura y precipitación registrados in situ, se obtuvieron gradientes verticales de ambas variables con relación a la orografía de la zona. Los registros se correlacionaron con datos de estaciones meteorológicas cercanas, para que mediante el uso de un MDE fuera posible obtener capas ráster con una resolución de 15 metros por píxel para temperatura, en las temporadas de verano e invierno; y para la precipitacion, en la estación lluviosa y de sequía. Adicionalmente se calculó el valor anual para ambas variables. La variabilidad climática detectada en la zona indica un aumento gradual de la temperatura del aire a lo largo del tiempo y una variación espacial en la distribución de la precipitación. La resolución espacial del modelo se ajusta con precisión al relieve de la montaña, lo que permitirá analizar con un buen nivel de detalle los elementos de flora y fauna que se encuentren dentro de cada píxel. Este trabajo representa la alternativa más viable y eficaz para estimar los valores de temperatura y precipitación en sistemas montañosos que carecen de estaciones climatológicas; demostrando que más allá de brindar información climática, cada vez más necesaria para los ecosistemas, es posible modelar su dinámica espacio-temporal para comprender mejor la compleja variabilidad climática de nuestros días.]]></p></abstract>
