<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-57792020000400529&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-57792020000400529&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-57792020000400529&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Ante la falta de estudios sobre suelos urbanos en México, en el presente trabajo se evaluaron ocho propiedades físicas y químicas empleadas por el Indicador Condición de Suelo del FIA (Programa Nacional de Inventario y Análisis Forestal, de Estados Unidos), para determinar la calidad de los suelos y su papel en el desarrollo de las especies arbóreas del Bosque de San Juan de Aragón. Las propiedades evaluadas y analizadas en términos horizontales y verticales, fueron: pH, conductividad eléctrica, contenido de sales, textura, densidad aparente, y porcentajes de materia orgánica, carbono orgánico y espacio poroso. Se colectaron 96 muestras de suelo sobre 28 sitios de muestreo de 0.1 ha, a tres profundidades, 0-5, 5-10 y 10&#8209;15 cm. El pH promedio del suelo fue 7.2; conductividad eléctrica, 0.51 dS m-1; densidad aparente, 1.02 g cm-3; espacio poroso, 61.84%; sales disueltas totales, 327.20 mg L-1; materia orgánica, 3.6% y carbono orgánico, 2.63%, así como una clase textural franca. Los suelos del área de estudio presentaron variabilidad vertical para densidad aparente, espacio poroso, contenido de materia orgánica, carbono orgánico, conductividad eléctrica y sales solubles, y fueron relativamente homogéneos en sentido horizontal. Con excepción de la materia orgánica, el resto de las propiedades presentaron valores aceptables para el buen desarrollo de las diferentes especies arbóreas presentes en el bosque e identificadas en estudios previos. La medición de las propiedades evaluadas, permitió obtener un panorama real sobre la capacidad de este suelo urbano para funcionar como soporte adecuado en el desarrollo de especies leñosas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: In view of the lack of studies on urban soils in Mexico, this paper evaluated eight physical and chemical properties used by the Soil Condition Indicator of the FIA (Forest Inventory and Analysis National Program, United States), to determine the quality of the soils and its role in the development of tree species present in the San Juan de Aragon Park. The properties evaluated and analyzed in horizontal and vertical terms were: pH, electrical conductivity, salt content, texture, bulk density, and percentages of organic matter, organic carbon and porous space. 96 soil samples were collected over 28 sampling sites of 0.1 ha, at three depths, 0-5, 5-10 and 10-15 cm. The average soil pH was 7.2; electrical conductivity, 0.51 dS m-1; bulk density, 1.02 g cm-3; porous space, 61.84%; total dissolved salts, 327.20 mg L-1; organic matter, 3.6% and organic carbon, 2.63%, as well as a frank textural class. The soils of the study area presented vertical variability for apparent density, porous space, organic matter, organic carbon, electrical conductivity, and soluble salts, and were relatively homogeneous horizontally. Except for organic matter, the rest of the properties presented acceptable values for good development of the tree species present. The measurement of the evaluated properties, allowed to obtain a real panorama about the ability of this urban land to function, which is adequate to support the development of woody species.]]></p></abstract>
