Se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar con 15 repeticiones usando como tratamientos las concentraciones de 2, 5 y 10% de lodo industrial crudo mezclado con turba de musgo (volumen/volumen) y un testigo sin aplicar lodo. Las variables evaluadas fueron: longitud y diámetro del tallo, longitud y diámetro del botón floral, diámetro de flor, concentración N, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn y Cu y metales pesados como Pb, Cr, Cd, Ni y Al, además de las características anatómicas del tallo como el área de las células del parénquima y el área y frecuencia de los vasos del xilema. Los resultados muestran diferencias significativas a favor del tratamiento de lodo en la longitud del tallo (P &#8804; 0.05), así también en el diámetro de la flor y la longitud del botón floral (P &#8804; 0.05). Sin embargo, la inclusión de lodo mostró un efecto negativo sobre el diámetro del tallo (P &#8804; 0.01). El contenido de elementos estuvo dentro de lo normal para las plantas por lo cual no se presentó ningún síntoma de deficiencia o toxicidad por la presencia del lodo. En el área y frecuencia de los vasos de xilema así como en las células del parénquima existieron diferencias significativas (P &#8804; 0.05), por otra parte, se encontró una correlación entre las características anatómicas y morfológicas (r = 0.8258; P &#8804; 0.05). Se concluyó que el uso del lodo industrial textil en la producción de Lilium sp. es factible y es una opción viable para disminuir la cantidad de lodos industriales que se vierten de manera inadecuada y que pueden contaminar el ambiente y contribuir en el deterioro de los suelos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract In order to verify the potential use of agricultural textile industrial waste its incorporation was evaluated as growing medium for ornamental production of Lilium sp. potted plants grown in greenhouse conditions. A complete randomized experimental design with fifteen replicates was used; treatment concentration was 2, 5 and 10% of mud mixed with peat moss (volume/volume) and a control without mud. Stem diameter and length, flower diameter and length and minerals such as N, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn and Cu, and heavy metals Pb, Cr, Cd, Ni and Al concentrations on plant tissues were analyzed. In addition, anatomic characteristics of stems, parenchyma area, cell and xylem vessel area and frequency, were also evaluated. The results indicated a negative effect of mud over stem diameter (P &#8804; 0.01) and a positive effect of mud over stem length (P &#8804; 0.05), flower diameter and length (P &#8804; 0.05). Levels of minerals in plant tissues were normal whereas heavy metal concentrations did not exceed toxic levels. The plants did not show deficiency or toxicity symptoms induced by the presence of mud. Parenchyma area cell and xylem vessel area and frequency had significant differences (P &#8804; 0.05), the study showed a correlation between anatomical characteristics and morphological traits (r = 0.8258; P &#8804; 0.05). In conclusion, it is feasible to use textile industrial mud in Lilium sp. production and it is a viable option to decrease mud quantity when it is improperly confined because it could contribute to environmental pollution and soil deterioration.]]></p></abstract>
