Los objetivos fueron conocer la situación actual de esta área natural frente a un problema tan común en áreas mediterráneas como es la erosión y saber en que grado se agrava la erosión al variar las condiciones actuales (y por tanto los factores erosivos: erosionabilidad del suelo, cubierta vegetal y prácticas de conservación de forma individual o conjunta). Se comprobó que el área de estudio no presenta tasas actuales de pérdida de suelo elevadas, el 93.2% de la superficie tiene una pérdida de suelo inferior a 25 Mg ha-1, mientras que en el caso de una situación potencial, la pérdida de suelo sí sería importante ya que el 60.3% de la superficie sufriría una erosión mayor de 25 Mg ha-1. De los tres factores potenciales estudiados, la cubierta vegetal constituye el factor potencial más sensible, convirtiéndose en el elemento que más peso aporta en el total. Todos los datos se modelaron con una aplicación informática (SIG) permitiendo al gestor actualizar los datos en tiempo real a la hora de realizar actuaciones en el área de estudio.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This study determined the values of present and potential water erosion of soils in the Natural Park of Cardeña and Montoro, as well as the weight of each one of the potential factors in the calculation of total potential erosion. The aims were to determine the current situation in this natural area relative to the problem of erosion, so common in Mediterranean areas, and to observe how erosion changes when conditions (and, hence, erosion factors: soil susceptibility to erosion, soil vegetation, and soil conservation practices, individually or combined) change. It was verified that present rates of soil loss in the zone are not high: 93.2% of this natural park has erosion levels of less than 25 Mg ha-1. In the case of an unfavorable potential situation, however, soil losses would be important: 60.3% of this area would have erosion level higher than 25 Mg ha-1. Potential plant cover, of the three potential factors, is the factor that contributes most to the total. All the data were treated by SIG allowing the manager to update the data in real time when performing in the study area.]]></p></abstract>
