Sin embargo, este tipo de investigaciones no abundan en el contexto de los países en vías de desarrollo, algo que resulta especialmente grave dadas sus condiciones particulares de escasez de recursos y de alternativas de viaje. Este artículo ayuda a paliar estas deficiencias a través del análisis de una encuesta desarrollada en el área metropolitana de Guadalajara, México. Su objetivo es mostrar cómo los miembros de hogares de municipios no centrales usan de manera diferenciada los medios de transporte y las repercusiones que se derivan en términos de exclusión social.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Dependency on the use of the automobile and how to change it have been two of the issues that have attracted the most attention of researchers from developed countries. However, this kind of research does not delve deeply into the context of developing countries. This is especially serious given the particular conditions of scarce resources and alternative forms of transportation. This article helps remedy these deficiencies by analyzing a survey carried out in the Guadalajara, Mexico metropolitan area. Its objective is to show how household members in non-central municipalities use transportation differently and the resulting repercussions in terms of social exclusion.]]></p></abstract>
