En diversas entrevistas realizadas a músicos en Guadalajara se constata que la práctica de esta profesión exige, generalmente, el dominio de distintas competencias (tocar diferentes instrumentos o géneros, entre otras) y la realización de diversas labores ligadas con la música (ingeniero de sonido, profesor de música, etcétera), o bien, implica el combinar la profesión con otras actividades ajenas a la música. Para analizarlas, se retoman los conceptos de &#8220;polivalencia&#8221;, &#8220;pluriactividad&#8221; y &#8220;poliactividad&#8221;.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This sociological study attempts to describe and analyze professional musicians&#8217; diverse activities and how they are a response to precarious employment and constitute a redefinition of their profession itself. Interviews with musicians in Guadalajara show that this profession generally demands mastering different competencies (playing different instruments or genres, among others) and doing different music-related jobs (sound engineer, music teacher, etc.), or combining the profession with other non-musical activities. To analyze this, the author uses the concepts of &#8220;multi-skilled activity,&#8221; &#8220;plural activities,&#8221; and &#8220;multi-activity&#8221;.]]></p></abstract>
