Las trampas fueron elaboradas con botellas PET de 1, 1.5 y 2.5 L, colocadas a 1.5 m del suelo y separadas 20 m entre sí. Los atrayentes utilizados fueron: etanol, metanol, etanol + metanol y vinagre de manzana + etanol. Para el análisis de datos, se utilizó un análisis de correspondencia para evaluar la frecuencia de capturas y los tratamientos (tipo de trampa + atrayente); además, se realizó un análisis descriptivo para calcular el número total, mínimo, máximo y promedio de individuos capturados por especie, así como el porcentaje de captura según el diseño de trampa y atrayente. Se recolectaron 408 especímenes, se identificaron cuatro géneros y 10 especies de Scolytinae. Hypothenemus, Coccotrypes, Microcorthylus y Xyleborus; el primero con siete especies, mientras que, los otros tres con una especie cada uno. Hypothenemus birmanus (Eichhoff, 1878) con 237 especímenes fue la especie más abundante, por el contrario, Coccotrypes cyperi (Beeson, 1929) la menos abundante con un ejemplar. Coccotrypes cyperi, Hypothenemus eruditus y Hypothenemus obscurus representan nuevos registros para Tamaulipas. La trampa número 4 capturó el mayor número de individuos (200), mientras que, la frecuencia de capturas de cada especie se asoció significativamente con los tratamientos evaluados. Los atrayentes etanol + metanol y vinagre de manzana + etanol fueron los más efectivos, con 109 y 123 capturas, respectivamente. Estos resultados sugieren que las trampas artesanales representan una alternativa eficiente para la colecta de Scolytinae en ecosistemas de manglar.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: This study aimed to determine the efficiency of four handmade traps with attractants for capturing Scolytinae in the "Laguna del Carpintero", Tampico, Tamaulipas. The traps were made with 1, 1.5, and 2.5 L PET bottles, placed 1.5 m from the ground and separated by 20 m. The attractants used were ethanol, methanol, ethanol + methanol, and apple cider vinegar + ethanol. For data analysis, a correspondence analysis was used to evaluate capture frequencies and treatments (trap type + attractant); in addition, a descriptive analysis was performed to calculate the total, minimum, maximum, and average number of individuals captured per species, as well as the capture percentage according to the trap and attractant design. A total of 408 specimens were collected, and four genera and 10 species of Scolytinae were identified, Hypothenemus, Coccotrypes, Microcorthylus, and Xyleborus; the first with seven species, while the other three with one species each. Hypothenemus birmanus (Eichhoff, 1878) with 237 specimens was the most abundant, on the contrary, Coccotrypes cyperi (Beeson, 1929) the least abundant with one specimen. Coccotrypes cyperi, Hypothenemus eruditus and Hypothenemus obscurus represent new records for Tamaulipas.
