En México se producen alrededor de 29,013.75 ton de cacao, de las cuales el 61% se produce en Tabasco. Sin embargo, es un cultivo que se ve afectado por plagas y enfermedades y se cree que será uno de los agroecosistemas más afectados por el cambio climático. Por lo antes mencionado, el objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la diversidad de Scolytinae y Platypodinae asociados a un agroecosistema de cacao bajo sol y otro bajo sombra en Tabasco, México, considerando diferentes variables ambientales. Se colocaron cinco trampas ECOIAPAR, a una altura de 1.5 m en cada sitio durante un año. En la plantación bajo sol (PSL) se capturaron 1,781 individuos de 31 especies de Scolytinae y dos especies de Platypodinae. En la plantación bajo sombra (PSM) se capturaron 1,788 individuos de 27 especies de Scolytinae y una de Platypodinae. La mayor diversidad 1D se registró en PSL con 13.29 especies efectivas y la menor en PSM con 10.85. Además, se identificó la asociación de 13 especies de Scolytinae con T. cacao. Se determinó que Hypothenemus birmanus (Eichhoff) tiene preferencia por la baja humedad y las bajas precipitaciones, Hypothenemus seriatus (Eichhoff) parece ser sensible a las precipitaciones y Xyleborus volvulus (F.) se asocia con la alta humedad, mientras que Hypothenemus sp.1, Theoborus ricini (Eggers) y Xyleborus ferrugineus (F.) muestran preferencias por alta radiación. Las investigaciones dirigidas a estudiar la influencia de las variables ambientales sobre insectos de importancia económica son de vital importancia, ya que permiten conocer los posibles efectos de estas variables sobre la distribución y desarrollo de sus poblaciones, además de proporcionar pautas para el desarrollo de modelos predictivos que puedan ser utilizados para predecir los efectos del cambio climático sobre agroecosistemas vulnerables.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract. Mexico produces around 29,013.75 tons of cocoa, 61% of which is produced in Tabasco. However, it is a crop that is affected by pests and diseases, and it is believed that it will be one of the agroecosystems most affected by climate change. Therefore, the objective of the research was to determine the diversity of Scolytinae and Platypodinae associated with a cocoa agroecosystem under sun and shade in Tabasco, Mexico, considering different environmental variables. Five ECOIAPAR traps were placed at a height of 1.5 m at each site for one year. In the sunny plantation (PSL), 1,781 individuals of 31 species of Scolytinae and two species of Platypodinae were captured.
