<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0065-17372023000100130&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0065-17372023000100130&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0065-17372023000100130&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The objectives of the present work were to determine the species of bats as floral visitors of Stenocereus huastecorum Alvarado-Sizzo, Arreola-Nava &amp; Terrazas, 2018 in the Jaumave Valley, the night activity patterns of these floral visitors, their abundance within the flowering periods of 2018 and the comparison of effectiveness of nocturnal and diurnal pollinators. During March-May and August-October 2018, 12 nights were sampled per flowering period using three mist nets of 12 x 2.6 meters. Bats captured were identified, samples of pollen were taken from them which was processed by Erdtman's acetolysis. Three different treatments were applied to evaluate pollination effectiveness (nocturnal exclusion, diurnal exclusion, and control), selecting three flowers in 19 individuals. Leptonycteris yerbuenae (Martínez &amp; Villa, 1940), L. nivalis (Saussure, 1860) and Choeronycteris mexicana (Tschudi, 1844) were the nocturnal floral visitors of S. huastecorum during its two flowering periods, the first species being the most frequently recorded throughout the night. Although this species has flowers with chiropterophilous characteristics, no significant differences were found in the effectiveness of diurnal, nocturnal and control pollinators. Very little is known about the nocturnal floral visitors of S. huastecorum and the effectiveness of its pollinators in the north of its distribution. Since this species is very important for the economy of rural communities due to the sale of its fruits, this research provides basic information for the conservation and use of this species.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Los objetivos del presente trabajo fueron determinar las especies de murciélagos que visitan las flores de Stenocereus huastecorum Alvarado-Sizzo, Arreola-Nava et Terrazas, 2018 en el Valle de Jaumave, los patrones de actividad por noche de los murciélagos visitantes, su abundancia dentro de los períodos de floración del 2018 y la comparación de la efectividad de polinizadores nocturnos y diurnos. Durante los meses de marzo-mayo y agosto-octubre de 2018 se realizaron muestreos de 12 noches por período de floración, en las cuales se establecieron tres redes de niebla de 12 x 2.6 metros para la captura e identificación de los murciélagos, a los cuales se les tomó una muestra de polen, la cual fue procesada mediante acetólisis de Erdtman. Para evaluar la efectividad de los polinizadores se aplicaron tres tratamientos distintos (exclusión nocturna, exclusión diurna y control), seleccionando tres flores en 19 individuos. Leptonycteris yerbuenae (Martínez &amp; Villa, 1940), L. nivalis (Saussure, 1860) y Choeronycteris mexicana (Tschudi, 1844) fueron los visitantes florales nocturnos de S. huastecorum durante sus dos periodos de floración, siendo la primera especie la que se registró con mayor frecuencia a lo largo de la noche. Aunque esta especie presenta flores con características quiropterófilas, no se encontraron diferencias significativas en la efectividad de polinizadores diurnos, nocturnos y el control. Se conoce muy poco sobre los visitantes florales nocturnos de S. huastecorum y la efectividad de sus polinizadores al norte de su distribución. Debido a que esta especie es muy importante para la economía de las comunidades rurales por la venta de sus frutos, este tipo de estudios brindan información base para la conservación y aprovechamiento de esta especie.]]></p></abstract>
