<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0065-17372016000300359&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0065-17372016000300359&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0065-17372016000300359&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: Los bosques templados de Ixtlán de Juárez, Oaxaca, han estado sujetos a manejo forestal por más de 50 años; el efecto que dicha modificación tiene en los grupos de anfibios y reptiles necesita ser evaluado. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la abundancia, distribución y riqueza de especies de anfibios y reptiles en zonas agrícolas, y en áreas de bosque con manejo forestal (BMF). El BMF presenta franjas alteradas (FA), en la cual se ha removido la cobertura vegetal, y franjas conservadas (FC), donde predomina la vegetación de pino-encino. De acuerdo a nuestras estimaciones fue posible registrar el 76% de las especies presentes. En todo el estudio identificamos 37 especies, agrupadas en 25 géneros y 11 familias, lo que representa el 8.37% de las especies presentes en Oaxaca. En el BMF identificamos 15 especies, de las cuales 13 son reptiles y dos son anfibios. La FA tuvo nueve especies, mientras que en la FC registramos ocho especies. En las AM registramos 31 especies, agrupadas en 22 géneros y 10 familias. Las zonas con mayor diversidad fueron las AM y las FA en comparación con las FC en donde la diversidad de especies fue menor. A pesar de que las FC y FA son colindantes la similitud fue mayor entre las AM, las cuales tienen más de 50 años de haber sido perturbadas, y las FA, las cuales han sido recientemente modificadas. Las prácticas de manejo forestal que caracterizan a Ixtlán de Juárez han promovido la interconectividad entre las zonas evitando, en cierta medida, una modificación en el ensamble natural de la herpetofauna. Se recomienda continuar con el monitoreo espacial y temporal de la herpetofauna no solamente en áreas naturales, sino también en las áreas de manejo forestal y modificadas que no han perdido conectividad con las zonas conservadas o de manejo forestal.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Pine-oak clear-cutting in Ixtlán de Juarez, Oaxaca, have been applied for more than 50 years; such forest management modify continuously the structure, arboreal composition, and associated biota. On the other hand, biota survey effort has been insufficient in communal forest areas in Sierra de Juarez, Ixtlán, Oaxaca. Particularly, it is not clear how this forest management affect the occurrence, presence and distribution patterns in reptiles. Our main goal was identifying composition of amphibian and reptiles, comparing distribution, richness and abundance in three areas with different degree of perturbation (agriculture plots, natural forest, and forest management plots). We found that reptile community is composed by 37 species, grouped in 25 genera and 11 families. According to our estimates, we recorded 76% of the extant species in the region and 8. 37% of the extant species in Oaxaca. Within management forest (BMF), constituted by undisturbed (FC) and clear-cutting areas (FA), we identified 15 species: 13 reptiles and two amphibians. We recorded nine species in FC and eight species in FC. In AM we recorded 31 species grouped in 22 genus and 10 families. Biodiversity richness was higher in disturbed areas (AM and FA) than in FC. Although FC and FA are neighboring areas, similarity was higher between AM, with more than 50 years disturbance; and FA, recently disturbed. We also observed interconnectivity among AM, FC and FA areas which can help to maintain the natural amphibian and reptile ensemble. Our results pointed out that distribution and abundance patters are modified during forest clear-cutting process. Further reptile and amphibian inventory in disturbed and natural areas are needed in order to prevent or diminish herptile biota diversity due to continuous forest management.]]></p></abstract>
