<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0035-00522019000100013&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0035-00522019000100013&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0035-00522019000100013&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen:  Objetivo:  Determinar la prevalencia de Staphylococcus aureus resistente a meticilina adquirido en la comunidad (SARM-AC) en una población de riesgo en Bogotá, Colombia, y analizar el perfil de susceptibilidad a antimicrobianos alternativos a vancomicina para el tratamiento de infecciones por este microorganismo.  Material y métodos:  Estudio observacional, transversal y descriptivo en jóvenes deportistas practicantes de fútbol. Se obtuvieron 91 muestras de hisopados nasales para su análisis microbiológico; la resistencia a los agentes antimicrobianos se realizó mediante el método de Kirby-Bauer y prueba de epsilometría (E-test) para las muestras de SARM-AC.  Resultados:  De las muestras obtenidas, sólo una fue positiva para SARM-AC (2%) y 43 para Staphylococcus aureus sensible a meticilina (SAMS) (48%), lo cual evidencia la baja prevalencia de esta cepa en la población estudiada.  Conclusión:  A pesar de la baja prevalencia de cepas del SARM-AC, es importante recalcar las medidas de higiene personal, lavado de manos y cuidado de las heridas que sean generadas en el entrenamiento o actividad deportiva de competencia.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Objective:  To determine the prevalence of community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA-AC) in a risk population in Bogotá, Colombia, and to analyze the profile of susceptibility to alternative antimicrobials to vancomycin for the treatment of infections with this microorganism.  Material and methods:  Cross-sectional study in young soccer players. Ninety-one samples of nasal swabs were obtained for microbiological analysis; Resistance to antimicrobial agents was carried out using the Kirby-Bauer method and an epsilometry test (E-test) for the MRSA-CA samples.  Results:  Of the total samples obtained, only one was positive for MRSA-AC (2%) and 43 for methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (SAMS) (48%), which shows the low prevalence of this strain in the population studied.  Conclusion:  Despite the low prevalence of CA-MRSA strains, it is important to emphasize measures of personal hygiene, including handwashing and wound care that result from sports competitions.]]></p></abstract>
