<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0035-001X2013000500004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0035-001X2013000500004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0035-001X2013000500004&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Un análisis teórico es llevado a cabo para estudiar la influencia que tienen los fenómenos de dispersión a primer orden (First Order Dispersion) y dispersión Raman estimulada (Stimulated Raman Scatering, SRS) sobre la transmitancia de un espejo de lazo óptico no lineal (Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror, NOLM) hecho con fibra torcida en lazo de baja birrefringencia. Se resuelve numéricamente el sistema de ecuaciones no lineales de Schrödinger, las cuales fueron modificadas en este trabajo para tomar en cuenta los efectos de dispersión a primer orden y el fenomeno de SRS sobre un pulso con polarización circular dentro de un NOLM basado en el principio de asimetría de polarización. Los resultados de la simulación predicen que el efecto de la dispersión a primer orden es aumentar la transmitancia del NOLM para los pulsos con potencia de entrada menor a la potencia de soliton del pulso. Este efecto disminuye el contraste (razón entre la transmitancia máxima y la transmitancia mínima) de conmutación no lineal. El efecto SRS es significativo para potencias de entrada mayores a la potencia de solitón. Para potencias altas, el fenómeno de SRS inhibe la coherencia de los haces, lo cual destruye el funcionamiento del NOLM.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[A theoretical analysis is presented in order to study the influence of both First Order Dispersion, and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) on the transmittance of a Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror (NOLM) made of twisted fiber with low birefringence. The system NLS equations were modified in order to introduce the FOD and SRS effects, then they were solved numerically take into account the effects of first order dispersion and SRS on a circularly polarized pulse within a NOLM based on the principle of polarization's asymmetry. The simulation results show that the first order dispersion effect is to increase the transmittance of the NOLM for pulses with input power lower than soliton power. This effect results in decrease of the nonlinear switch contrast. For input power higher than soliton power, SRS avoid the coherence between pulses. That destroys the NOLM operation.]]></p></abstract>
