El identificar los factores de riesgo asociados a morbimortalidad posquirúrgicos y estimar la función pulmonar residual así como la reserva cardiopulmonar ayudan a reducir los riesgos perioperatorios así como a reducir la discapacidad física del paciente neumópata. El objetivo de este trabajo es ofrecer a los neumólogos y cirujanos de tórax una visión general de los aspectos prácticos de la valoración funcional preoperatoria en resección pulmonar, con la intención de que sea tomada en cuenta en beneficio de los pacientes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Lung cancer in early stages is a major cause of lung resection surgery with curative intent. The identification of risk factors associated with postoperative morbidity and mortality and the estimation of residual lung function as well as cardiopulmonary reserve help reduce perioperative risks as well as reduce the physical disability of the pulmonary patient. The objective of this work is to offer pulmonologists and chest surgeons an overview of the practical aspects of preoperative functional assessment in pulmonary resection, with the intention that it be taken into account for the benefit of patients.]]></p></abstract>
