Por último, en EE. UU. identificaron que las alteraciones radiológicas y tomográficas como los factores asociados a mortalidad más importantes.  Material y métodos:  estudio observacional, transversal y analítico.  Resultados:  se incluyeron 193 pacientes de los cuales 50.5% fallecieron. Los factores riesgo de mortalidad que se identificaron fueron: procalcitonina a los 10 días (OR = 28.1, IC 95% 6.9-113.9, p &lt; 0.001), choque séptico (OR = 17.3, IC 95% 7.9-38.1, p &lt; 0.001), niveles mayores de presión positiva al final de la espiración (PEEP) (OR = 3.7, IC 95% 2.5-5.5, p &lt; 0.001) y la tromboembolia pulmonar (OR = 4.7, IC 95% 1.001-22.6, p = 0.05). Por último, con respecto a traqueostomía, tuvo un impacto positivo en la mortalidad (OR = 0.1, IC 95% 0.04-0.35, p &lt; 0.001).  Conclusiones:  los factores independientemente asociados a mayor mortalidad fueron la procalcitonina al día 10, choque séptico y tromboembolia pulmonar; la traqueostomía fue un factor protector para mortalidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  multiple risk factors have been reported in certain populations around the world. In Spain, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) mortality was 31%, severe hypoxemia, higher sequential organic failure assessment scale (SOFA) score, as well as shock and arrhythmias; on the other hand, in China, obesity, age, serious comorbidities and the requirement for advanced respiratory support were reported. Finally, in the US they identified radiological and tomographic alterations like the most important factors associated with mortality.  Material and methods:  observational, cross-sectional and analytical study.  Results:  193 patients were included, 50.5% died. The risk factors for mortality that were identified were: procalcitonin at day 10 (OR = 28.1, 95% CI 6.9-113.9, p &lt; 0.001), septic shock (OR = 17.3, 95% CI 7.9-38.1, p &lt; 0.001), high PEEP levels (OR = 3.7, 95% CI 2.5-5.5, p &lt; 0.001) and pulmonary thromboembolism (OR = 4.7, 95% CI 1.001-22.6, p = 0.05). Por fim, nos EUA identificaram as alterações radiológicas e tomográficas como os fatores mais importantes associados à mortalidade.  Material e métodos:  estudo observacional, transversal e analítico.  Resultados:  incluíram-se 193 pacientes, dos quais 50.5% foram a óbito.
