El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la tasa de gestación con IA aplicando dos tipos de semen. Se utilizaron 44 hembras divididas al azar en dos grupos. Grupo 1 (n = 23) inseminadas con semen convencional (n = 23) y Grupo 2 (n = 21) con semen sexado (n = 21). Las hembras fueron sincronizadas con dispositivo intravaginal de progesterona (CIDR), estradiol, prostaglandinas F2&#945;, y gonadotropina coriónica equina. La IA se realizó a tiempo fijo (48 h). Posteriormente se realizaron dos resincronizaciones reutilizando los CIDRs. Los resultados obtenidos no presentaron diferencia significativa (P &#8805; 0.05) en porcentaje de preñez al primero, segundo y tercer servicio, alcanzando más del 60%. Se concluye que realizar la IA con semen sexado se obtiene porcentaje de gestación similar al aplicar semen convencional.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Artificial insemination (AI) with sexed semen can be an alternative to be implemented in dual-purpose units on the Oaxacan coast, thereby promoting productive and reproductive efficiency. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the pregnancy rate with AI using two types of semen. 44 cows were used randomly divided into two groups. Group 1 (n = 23) inseminated with conventional semen and Group 2 (n = 21) with sexed semen. The females were synchronized with intravaginal progesterone device (CIDR), estradiol, PFG2&#945; prostaglandins, and equine chorionic gonadotropin. AI was performed a fixed (48 h). Subsequently, two resynchronizations were performed reusing the CIDRs. The results obtained did not present a significant difference (P &#8805; 0.05) in percentage pregnancy at the first, second and third service, reaching more than 60%. It is concluded that performing AI with sexed semen results in a similar pregnancy rate to that obtained when using conventional semen.]]></p></abstract>
