</abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en">
Abstract. In this work, the necessary and / or sufficient conditions to promote sustainable competitiveness are identified through comparative qualitative analysis (QCA). The study is based on data from The Global Sustainable Competitiveness Index for 2020, from which 86 countries were randomly taken. The results show that countries with a lack of natural capital and efficient resource management resort to social capital and government performance as necessary conditions to encourage sustainable competitiveness. It is argued that sustainable competitiveness is based on a model that relates intellectual capital with good governance practices and the presence of activities related to social capital, this being the main configuration for sustainable competitiveness.
</abstract>
