Se usaron herramientas etnográficas. Se obtuvo saturación teórica con 23 entrevistas.ResultadosLa educación de las enfermeras para afrontar la muerte y el cuidado del paciente moribundo y sus familiares fue incompleta e insuficiente.ConclusiónLa formación de las enfermeras en esta área podría resultar en la humanización del cuidado, porque les brinda herramientas para actuar de manera reflexiva y les permite afrontar la muerte. El cuidado del paciente moribundo significa para las enfermeras una obligación que deben asumir con pocas herramientas obtenidas durante su educación.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ObjectiveTo understand the importance which nurses attribute to education on the care of terminal patients.MethodologyQualitative study with an ethnographic focus, with 23 participants, carried out in Medellín, Colombia from December 2012 to November 2013. Ethnographic tools were used. Theoretical saturation was reached with 23 interviews.ResultsThe education which nurses receive to face the care of the dying patient, as well as the situation of his/her family, was incomplete and insufficient.ConclusionThe training of nurses in this area could further humanize the care process since these tools allow them to act reflexively while facing death. The care of terminal patients is an obligation that the nurses must handle with limited educational preparation.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[ObjetivosO objetivo é compreender o significado que as enfermeiras concedem à educação no cuidado do paciente em processo terminal.Metodologiaestudo qualitativo com abordagem etnográfica, 23 participantes, realizado em Medellín, Colômbia, de dezembro de 2012 até novembro de 2013. Usaram-se ferramentas etnográficas. Obteve-se saturação teórica com 23 entrevistas.ResultadosA educação das enfermeiras para confrontar a morte e o cuidado do paciente terminal e dos familiares foi incompleta e insuficiente.ConclusãoA formação das enfermeiras nesta área poderia resultar na humanização do cuidado, porque oferece-lhes ferramentas para agir de forma reflexiva e permite-lhes confrontar a morte. O cuidado do paciente terminal significa para as enfermeiras uma obrigação que devem assumir com as poucas ferramentas obtidas durante a educação.]]></p></abstract>
