Desde una perspectiva demográfica, la principal característica del Covid-19 es su efecto diferenciado por grupos de edad, teniendo mayor letalidad en personas de edad avanzada. Estimamos la esperanza de vida temporal en: tres grupos etarios y por sexo, a nivel nacional y en los 32 estados del país. El método que se usó para la estimación de la esperanza de vida permite controlar el porcentaje adecuado de suavidad de la tendencia de una serie de tiempo, tanto globalmente como por segmentos, y se considera adecuado para identificar los efectos diferenciados que ha tenido la pandemia por grupo etario. Para el grupo de 41 a 85 años, nuestras estimaciones indican una reducción en la esperanza de vida temporal a nivel nacional, entre 2020, año donde alcanzaron su mínimo, y el año en donde alcanzaron su máximo, de 3.5 años para los hombres y 1.6 para las mujeres.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many deaths around the world. In fact, if the prevalence of the infection continues, it is expected to decrease life expectancy. From a demographic perspective, the main feature of Covid-19 is its differential effect on age groups, having the worst effect on the elderly people. We estimate temporary life expectancies for each of three age groups by sex, at the national as well as the state level. The method used to estimate life expectancy uses an approach based on Controlled Smoothness of a time series trend, both globally and by segments. This approach is considered suitable to identify the differential effects of each selected age group. For the 41 to 85 year-old group, we estimate a reduction in temporary life expectancy at the national level, between year 2020 (when it reached its minimum value) and the year where it reached its maximum, 3.5 years for men and 1.6 for women.]]></p></abstract>
