En este complejo se ha reportado la presencia de rocas calcosilicatadas asociadas a otras rocas metamórficas e intrusivas. El presente estudio fue enfocado al estudio de las rocas calcosilicatadas y rocas adyacentes que afloran en el arroyo El Mezquite, conformadas por una alternancia de: mármol, mármol impuro, rocas calcosilicatadas y gneis anfibolítico, que se extienden por más de dos kilómetros y agrupadas como una unidad informal llamada calcosilicatos El Mezquite. Las relaciones de campo junto con las características megascópicas y microscópicas, indican que las rocas metasedimentarias representan parte de un protolito calcáreo formado en un ambiente marino con mezcla de sedimentos siliciclásticos y volcaniclásticos, los cuales fueron metamorfizados posteriormente. En el arroyo El Mezquite además afloran rocas ígneas sin deformación de composición tonalítica así como gneis anfibolítico, ortogneis y migmatitas, estas últimas en el contacto entre los intrusivos sin deformación y las rocas calcosilicatadas. Las litologías y sus relaciones de campo evidencian dos eventos metamórficos, uno regional representado por el gneis anfibolítico y el ortogneis y otro de contacto, representado por las migmatitas. La tonalita y el gneis anfibolítico fueron fechados por el método de U-Pb en zircones y arrojaron edades de 85.4 ± 0.7 Ma y 116 ± 1.5 Ma, respectivamente, indicando dos eventos magmáticos. La primera edad la interpretamos indirectamente como la edad máxima del metamorfismo de contacto, mientras que, por las relaciones de campo, la edad de 116 ± 1.5 Ma permite inferir la edad mínima del depósito e indirectamente la edad máxima del metamorfismo regional. También se obtuvieron datos termométricos de la tonalita y del gneis anfibolítico a partir del Ti en zircón, obteniendo 636 ± 33 °C y 701 ± 42 °C, respectivamente. La presencia de minerales como diópsido, wollastonita y trazas de rutilo, indican temperaturas potencialmente mayores a 700 °C para el metamorfismo regional lo cual alcanzó facies de anfibolita. Las rocas calcosilicatadas se depositaron en la zona de transición entre la cuenca profunda y la plataforma continental, posteriormente afectadas por metamorfismo regional (&lt;116 Ma) y un metamorfismo de contacto sobreimpreso (&lt;85 Ma).]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The La Paz Plutonic Complex is located in southern Baja California Peninsula. In this complex calc-silicate rocks are associated with other metamorphic and intrusive rocks. The focus of this research is on the calc-silicate rocks in the eastern part of the Los Cabos Block with marble, calc-silicates and amphibolitic gneiss which extend for more than two kilometers and grouped as an informal unit called El Mezquite calc-silicates. Field relationships, megascopic, and microscopic characteristics indicate that the protoliths of the metasedimentary rocks were siliciclastic rocks alternated with calcareous sediments and volcaniclastic rocks deposited in a marine environment and subsequently metamorphosed. In the Arroyo El Mezquite, outcrops of undeformed igneous rocks of tonalitic composition and amphibolitic gneisses and orthogneiss are observed, theses last. The metamorphic unit is in contact with the undeformed intrusives and the calc-silicate rocks. This lithology indicates two metamorphic events, the first of regional character, represented by orthogneiss and amphibolitic gneiss and the second as contact metamorphism, represented by migmatites. Geochronology of the tonalite and the amphibolite gneiss with the U-Pb method on zircons yielded ages of 85.44 ± 0.66 Ma and 116 ± 1.5 Ma, respectively, indicating to magmatic events. The first age indicates indirectly the maximum age for contact metamorphism, while the second allows us to infer the possible minimum age of deposition and potentially the maximum age of regional metamorphism. The data obtained from the zircons of tonalite and amphibolitic gneiss were used to estimate their emplacement temperature of 650 ± 33 °C and 701 ± 42 °C, respectively. The presence of minerals such as diopside, wollastonite and rutile traces indicate temperatures of at least &gt;700 °C of the metamorphism. The regional metamorphism reached the amphibolite facies. The El Mezquite calc-silicate rocks were deposited in the zone between a continental platform and an oceanic basin, subsequently affected by regional metamorphism (&lt;116 Ma) and a contact metamorphic overprint (&gt;85 Ma).]]></p></abstract>
