A quienes se les proporcionó el reto de preparar un nanomaterial cerámico para la descontaminación de suelos; actividades enmarcadas en las áreas de la química de sólidos y de materiales cerámicos. Los estudiantes mostraron su capacidad al proponer el diseño de nanopartículas magnéticas de hierro insertadas en una arcilla montmorillonítica para la resolución del problema; a través de sus habilidades de investigación en literatura confiable, plantearon sus objetivos, hipótesis y metodología para la síntesis in situ de las nanopartículas magnéticas, en una montmorillonita acondicionada; desarrollaron e interpretaron los experimentos; realizaron la caracterizaron estructural de sus nanomateriales por las técnicas de difracción de rayos X de polvos y espectroscopía de absorción infrarroja; finalmente, concluyeron sus resultados. De formaparalela,desarrollaronsushabilidadesdereflexión, toma de decisiones, de intercambio y comunicación de opiniones e información, argumentaron, memorizaron y formularon sus ideas. Los estudiantes expusieron sus avances en los seminarios semanales; redactaron el informe final en forma de artículo de investigación y efectuaron una muestra experimental en la Feria de Química de la Facultad de Química, UNAM.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract This work exposes an experimental proposal for university students using Base Learning on Problems. Such students were challenged to prepare a ceramic nanomaterial for soil decontamination; activities framed by the chemistry on solids and ceramic materials areas. The students showed their ability to propose a design of magnetic iron nanoparticles inserted in a clay montmorillonitic for the problem solution; through their abilities of investigation trustworthy literature; they stated their objectives, hypothesis and methodology for the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles in situ, a conditioned montmorillonite; developed and interpreted the experiments; performed the structural characterization of their nanomaterials by the X-ray powder diffraction and infrared absorption spectroscopy techniques; finally, they concluded their outcome. In parallel, they developed their reflection skills, decision-making, information opinion exchange and communication; they argued, memorized and formulated their ideas. The students exposed their advances in the weekly seminars; wrote the final report in a research article format and performed an experimental sample at the Chemistry Fair at the Chemistry Faculty, UNAM.]]></p></abstract>
