El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la supervivencia en campo y control genético en altura y diámetro al cuello de la raíz a los 8, 10 y 12 meses de edad en un ensayo de procedencias - progenies de Pinus patula en Durango, México. Se evaluaron 42 familias de siete procedencias de los estados de Puebla (Ahuazotepec, Zacatlán y Aquixtla), Hidalgo (Zacualtipán y Acaxochitlán), Querétaro (Pinal de Amoles) y Veracruz (Huayacocotla), México. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completos al azar con 15 repeticiones. Se realizó análisis de varianza, se estimó la heredabilidad individual (   h  i  2) y las correlaciones fenotípicas (rpf) y genéticas (rg) entre las características evaluadas, mismas que correlacionaron con variables geográficas y climáticas de los sitios de procedencia. Se encontraron diferencias (P &#8804; 0,05) en supervivencia, altura y diámetro entre procedencias y familias en las tres edades evaluadas. Las familias de Aquixtla presentaron la mayor supervivencia con 79 % y las de Huayacocotla tuvieron los mayores valores en altura (59 cm) y diámetro (9.5 mm) a los 12 meses después de la plantación. El control genético fue moderado para la altura (0.11 &#8804;    h  i  2 &#8804; 0.23) y diámetro (0.20 &#8804;    h  i  2 &#8804; 0.23). Las correlaciones fenotípicas y genéticas fueron altas y significativas (0.43 &#8804; rpf &#8804; 0.68; 0.65 &#8804; rg &#8804; 0.87). La altura correlacionó negativamente con la elevación (r &#8805; -0.50) y el índice de sequía (IS) (r &#8805; -0.33), y positivamente con la precipitación media anual (PMA) (r &#8804; 0.69) y la temperatura mínima (r &#8804; 0.50) de los sitios de procedencia. La supervivencia correlacionó negativamente con PMA (r &#8805; -0.45) y positivamente con IS (r &#8804; 0.45). Aunque las plantas provenientes de sitios con mayor elevación y menor precipitación mostraron el menor crecimiento, fueron las de mayor tasa de supervivencia, lo que podría favorecer su adaptabilidad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Evaluation of parents of trees with commercial potential is essential for its massive propagation. The aim of this study was to evaluate field survival and genetic control on height and diameter at the root neck at 8, 10 and 12 months of age in a progeny-provenance test of Pinus patula in Durango, Mexico. Fortytwo families from seven provenances of the states of Puebla (Ahuazotepec, Zacatlán and Aquixtla), Hidalgo (Zacualtipán and Acaxochitlán), Querétaro (Pinal de Amoles) and Veracruz (Huayacocotla), Mexico were evaluated. A randomized complete block design with 15 repetitions was used. Analysis of variance was performed and individual heritability (   h  i  2) and phenotypic (rpf), and genetic (rg) correlations between characteristics were estimated, which were correlated with geographic and climatic variables of the sites of provenance. Differences were found (P &#8804; 0.05) in survival, height and diameter between provenances and families at the three ages evaluated. The families from Aquixtla had the highest survival rate with 79 % and those from Huayacocotla had the highest values in height (59 cm) and diameter (9.5 mm) at 12 months after planting. Genetic control was moderate for height (0.11 &#8804;    h  i  2 &#8804; 0.23) and diameter (0.20 &#8804;    h  i  2 &#8804; 0.23). Phenotypic and genetic correlations were high and significant (0.43 &#8804; rpf &#8804; 0.68; 0.65 &#8804; rg &#8804; 0.87). Height correlated negatively with elevation (r &#8805; -0.50) and the drought index (DI) (r &#8805; -0.33), and positively with average annual precipitation (AAP) (r &#8804; 0.69) and minimum temperature (r &#8804; 0.69) of the provenance sites. Survival correlated negatively with AAP (r &#8805; -0.45) and positively with DI (r &#8804; 0.45). Although plants from sites with higher elevation and lower precipitation showed the lowest growth, they had the highest survival rate, which could favor their adaptability.]]></p></abstract>
