<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-73802024000300223&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-73802024000300223&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-73802024000300223&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen A pesar de la alta demanda de ajonjolí (Sesamum indicum L.), tanto para el consumo nacional como para exportación, durante más de dos décadas no se han liberado nuevas variedades debido a que durante ese tiempo, en México no se han realizado trabajos de mejoramiento genético. Con el propósito de explorar la diversidad fenotípica y comportamiento del germoplasma de ajonjolí disponible en bancos, algunas variedades mejoradas y otros materiales introducidos en dos sitios que comprenden cuatro ambientes del estado de Guerrero, México fueron evaluados 50 genotipos, en los ciclos PV-2021 y PV-2022 con base en 24 descriptores morfológicos, siendo 11 cuantitativos y 13 cualitativos. Se realizaron análisis de componentes principales, de correspondencia y de conglomerados. Las variables cuantitativas que mostraron mayor relevancia para distinguir los genotipos fueron longitud y anchura del limbo, días a inicio de floración, altura de planta, número de nudos hasta la primera flor y días a inicio de madurez de cápsulas, mientras que las variables cualitativas de mayor importancia fueron grado de lobulado del limbo, relación longitud/anchura del limbo, número de ramas por planta, desarrollo de nectario extra floral y número de flores por axila foliar. El análisis de conglomerado condujo a la formción de dos grupos con base en caracteres de similitud dentro de grupos y disimilitud entre grupos. En similitud, 39 genotipos (78 %) se aglomeraron en el Grupo I, y 11 genotipos (22 %) en el Grupo II, mientras que en disimilitud, el Grupo I presentó 0.25 de distancia fenotípica y 0.38 para el Grupo II. Si bien hay un alto porcentaje de similitud fenotípica en el germoplasma evaluado, existen al menos dos grupos genéticos de variabilidad que pueden proporcionar, mediante cruzamientos y recombinación, nueva diversidad aprovechable por los programas de mejoramiento genético del ajonjolí.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary Despite the high demand for sesame (Sesamum indicum L.), both for domestic consumption and for export, new varieties have not been released for more than two decades because during that time no genetic improvement has been carried out in Mexico. In order to explore the phenotypic diversity and performance of sesame germplasm available in banks, some improved varieties and other materials introduced in two sites comprising four environments in the state of Guerrero, Mexico 50 genotypes were evaluated in the Spring-Summer 2021 and 2022, based on 24 morphological descriptors, being 11 quantitative and 13 qualitative. Principal component, correspondence and cluster analyses were carried out. The quantitative variables that showed greater relevance to distinguish genotypes were length and width of the leaf blade, days for the beginning of flowering, plant height, number of nodes to the first flower and days for the beginning of capsule maturity, while the qualitative variables of greatest importance were degree of lobulation of the leaf blade, length/width ratio of the leaf blade, number of branches per plant, development of extra floral nectarium and number of flowers per leaf axil. Cluster analysis led to the formation of two groups based on characteristics of similarity within the groups and dissimilarity between groups. In similarity, 39 genotypes (78 %) were clustered in Group I and 11 genotypes (22 %) in Group II, while in dissimilarity, Group I presented 0.25 phenotypic distance and 0.38 for Group II. Although there is a high percentage of phenotypic similarity in the germplasm evaluated, there are at least two genetic groups of variability that can provide new usable diversity for sesame genetic improvement programs through crossing and recombination.]]></p></abstract>
